Didn’t know how to word the title but my question is, was it commonplace for other Primarchs to accompany the Big E when they reunited with a lost Primarch? Like when first meeting Russ was Horus there? Was Ferrus Manus there to meet Fulgrim on Chemos, etc. I vaguely remember one Primarch being greeted by Fulgrim, Dorn and Magnus when the Emperor made planet fall. Did that happen in any other instances, or was that uncommon? Writing my own full for a lost legion project I have been working on and off, for the past few years.
Also did the Emperor always challenge the Primarchs in some way before? I am pretty sure Angron was just kidnapped but were the others tested in some way before he accepted them?

it happened sometimes I belive, but the most common approuch seemed to be the emperor making first contact by himself, and then introducing the new primarch to one of his brothers shortly after

I think you are actually thinking of Magnus. I think he's the one who the Emperor brought those other 3 to meet.
Also, Im not sure if he did challenge other primarchs. Only challenge I recall is Vulkan challenging Emps to see who could hunt the biggest drake or something. Though tbh I dont read about many of the Primarchs

he also challanged Russ. the emperor did what he needed to bring the Primarchs aboard, some submitted willingly, others he needed to win to his side, others he basicly forced into service

I don't think that ALL Primarchs were initially greeted by his fellow brethren as well as the Emperor, as we see in one instance out of eighteen that Vulkan was approached by the Emperor alone, disguised as a common stranger and challenged him to a series of tests. When Vulkan pledged his loyalty to the Emperor, he was taken aboard and subsequently hidden from his brethren and others for an extended period of time. Why? Who knows?

it depends on what fits their story.
Curze was met fulgrim and someone else when the emeperor got him.
He challenged the ones who were reluctant to embrace him..mortarion for example.

I'd imagine he brought the other three Primarchs when he met the Night Haunter just in case...

I have been catching up with lexicanum so hopefully my info is up-to-date/correct.
Everyone seemed to know their stuff, he was challenged by Russ and Vulcan, I think Dorn and Alpharius actually made it off their respective worlds, with Alpharius being the only one to meet Horus instead of the Emperor.
Magnus was talking with the Emperor in the warp before meeting. He kidnapped Angron(which to me still makes no sense why he didn’t just kill the slavers and gain Angron’s respect IMO).
Curze was met with other Primarchs and he had his death vision. The rest were just legends or stories about these great warriors and leaders that the Emperor heard of and then reunited with them(if I am missing anything like from the novels then let me know please).
Seems to be the exception rather than the rule, which is good to know.

Apparently the planet had already accepted Imperial Compliance. The Emps didn't want to create bad PR by attacking a planet that had just peacefully joined the Imperium as the offer of bloodless compliance rather than invasion by the Legions persuaded a lot of planets to join the Imperium rather than put up a fight.
Sanguinius apparently recognised the Emperor on sight and knelt before him when he arrived on Baal (2nd edition codex).

Ah I didn’t know that about Angron, now that makes way more sense to me. That is reminiscent of how real wars have been won in the past. Thank you that is very interesting.

Fulgrim and Ferrus Manus met not when either were first found, but shortly after on Terra. Both had found themselves in a forge at the same time. It was “coincidence” that they found one another.

Russ was the second found, and was met by horus at some point afterwards. Horus was a bit of a baby about it all and got jealous, possibly being the butterfly wing flap that caused the Heresy.
