Hi;
In preparation to play my first match with CP, I am looking at the stratagems and relics for ultramarines.
As far as I understand, your warlord gets 1 relic and 1 trait. You can add more traits and relics with stratagems or other special rules.
I do not understand why there are 2 groups of relics inside of ultramarines, aka, Relics of Macrage and Ultramarines specal-issue warwear.)
What is the difference between the 2?

Special issue wargear can be used by successor chapters and Ultramarines. Relics of Macragge can be only used by Ultramarines, or by successor chapters if they spend 1 CP and use the Honoured by Macragge stratagem.

Also you don't have to give your one free relic to the warlord.

Also important to remember the free relic of your warlords faction doesn't need to go on your warlord.

Working on my 750 army for an escalation league, I found a nice combination that should serve me well against my oponent: thousand sons.
I have a captain on bike with power fist, a primaris lietenant with rifle and an aggressor squad on my ultramarine army, and I had the following idea:

Captain - Santic Halo. Master crafted power fist
Liuetenant - Bellicos Bolt rifle, Helm of Censure
Aggressor sargent - Houred Sargent - Master crafted weapon (Boltstorm Gauntlets)

I know the oponent will be using a bunch of sourcerers and a unit of terminators., and against that I think that for 4 CP I get a significant boost, and I still have 4 CP left for strategems:
Captain gets extra damage, +3 invulnerable and can deny 1 psycher power.
Liuetenant will be shooting 4 shots even when advancing hiting and wounding on 2s rerolling (hits on 3 if advanced), -1AP (-2AP on tactical doctrine), damage 2
Aggressor sargent would be delivering 12 bolter shots of damage 2.

Thoughts?

No, a model can only ever have one relic. I'm not aware of any exception to that in the whole game.
