So, there are three parts to this thread.

1) What's the best way to get started with Necromunda? What books would I need? How much terrain? Etc. etc.

2) What are the various gangs available, and is there any way to get info on them WITHOUT having to buy the books? I don't need every last scrap of info, but I'd like an idea before I buy.

3) How feasible would it be to convert Necromunda forces to Maelstrom's Edge? And is there any way to sorta mash-up the two systems, for a MEdge/Necromunda campaign?

1) Best way to get started is to get a fan made rules compilation. Don't buy any books (they have low quality and always include incorrect rules). If you were to buy books, you'd need 6 books to get everything (plus various white dwarf articles and pdfs), soon to be 7 (with 5 more to follow). So in a year or two, there will be a total of 12 books. The first 5 books are already outdated. That's right, GW is releasing 17 books for Necromunda (including the outdated ones).
2) Best way to get info is a fan made rules compilation. There are 11 gangs, 6 of them have multiple variants and soon to get more. In total, it is expected to have 41 gang variants to play with.
3) I don't know much about Maelstrom's Edge sorry.

Where can I find a fan-made rules compilation?

And no worries-I figured I'd do most of the conversion work myself, and then run the balance past the MEdge forum on here.

Thank you!

You should be able to find it on discord (used to be one at reddit). Many forums and communities also have these types of resources available, if you poke around.

1)

2) Gangs of the under hive has the majority of the rules and points for most of the factions - the two new stuff. you still need the core book at least to have missions. and you can always scratch build zone tiles to play.
3) cant really answer that.
