I recently got the Primaris Vanguard starter set, a Tactical Warsuit and have started making my own scouts from spare bits. I am a relatively new player and after 3 games I feel Raven Guard would be best suited to my playstyle.

My biggest issue is I'm not sure if I should play as a RG successor for the LRM and MA tactics or play as RG itself. I've chosen to have a Smash Captain for the high moment but don't know if it'll be better to fore go the successor tactics to have Shrike instead. Any advice here?

I feel like I've chosen a good Librarian that can be up close and personal with the Captain, but if anyone has some input on this it'll be a great help.

My troops are mainly for grabbing objectives, so I decided to stick with bolters and give the Sargents storm bolters for some cheap extra fire power. Would it be worth swapping a squad into Sniper scouts or leave the Character hunting to the 2 squads of Eliminators.

For my Elites I've been told Assualt Centurions are really good heavy hitters with Raven Guard tactics, but have been debating if I should start with a Centurion squad or an Aggressor squad. Any help here? The Warsuit is there to put some pressure on a target with the Centurions.

And the Assualt Squad and Suppressor squad are there because I already have the models and to fill points.

Currently my only game plan is to get close and dakka with my Centurions in 1st or 2nd turn and have my 2 HQ units be the heavy hitters, while everyone else supports from range. Any advise you can give a new RG player on tactic combos and some tips on how RG can deal with a swarm army (mainly Tyranids).

Compare aggressor to centurion ... almost the same cost (dakka aggressor trio 111) but .. 33 percent more wounds and critically in melee, flat 3 (cent) vs d3 (aggre).

So 3 aggressor going toe to toe with 3 centurions mignt cost 11 less, but each punch has that nasty chance to roll 1, 1, 1, 3, before killing ONE centurion, where the centurion reliably kills one and only one aggressor per hit.
Its a big advantage, should you ever need to go toe to toe in combat, and the extra point of save means you are a BEAR to kill with even fairly powerful weapons, while the aggressor is just a primaris with 1 extra wound.
Note that I commend to you the idea of having hurricane bolters on all aggressors -- they are already beasts in battle in melee, they don't really need the extra oomph there, and having vs not having 12 shots each, is pretty awesome to soften up screens before they try to thread a charge in.
