He has an ability called spiritlink that reads “whenever you pass a psychicc test for Eldrad Ulthran, you can add 1 to the next psychic test you take for him until the end of the phase”.

I have the following questions:

1) is it cumulative? I mean, if I pass two consecutive psychic tests, do I have a +2 to the third attempt?
2) Passing a psychic test is not the same as manifesting a psychic power, is it? I would still get the bonus if my opponent denied, wouldn’t I?
3) Since the sequence is 1) Choose psyker and power 2) Make Psychic test 3) Enemy takes Deny the Witch test 4) Resolve psychic power… is it legal to attempt to manifest smite even if no enemies are in range just for the sake of getting the bonus?

PD: I’m not a native English speaker so forgive me if I’m talking non-sense

1) No, because it only applies to the next psychic test, not all subsequent psychic tests. You cast the first power at +0, if you pass your next power is +1, and if you pass again your next one is also at +1.

2) When you pass the test, you manifest the power. "To do so, roll 2D6. If the total is equal to or greater than that power’s warp charge value, the power is successfully manifested." All denying does is prevent the power from resolving in step 4 of the psychic phase. One of the very few times GW has used clear and unambiguous language.

3) Yes. Because it doesn't have a targeting restriction before you manifest it, you can attempt it even if it would do nothing upon resolution. In fact as far as I can see the vast majority of psychic powers, Eldar or not, allow you to attempt them regardless even if there would be no legal targets in range after it is manifested.

This is something that very few people seem to get actually: you roll your test, and your opponent can roll to deny, before you choose a target. It makes the decision to deny or not harder for the opponent.
