I plan on buying both Necromunda: Dark Uprising and Necromunda: Underhive. I understand that both contain rulebooks for the game with Dark Uprising being the most recent. There is also a separate rulebook as well. Is this separate rulebook necessary or is it rendered obsolete by the Dark Uprising one? As for the rest of the rulebooks, Gangs of the Underhive contains the rules for the main 6 gangs. The Book of Ruin and Book of Judgement contain additional rules for the two gangs in Dark Uprising (and more). The Book of Peril has rules for making custom gangs such as inquisitorial warbands. So for a purchase plan, is the following reasonable?

1. Necromunda: Underhive (contains outdated rulebook)
2. Necromunda: Dark Uprising (contains current rulebook)
3. Gangs of the Underhive
4. The Book of Ruin
5. The Book of Judgement
6. The Book of Peril

This leaves out the $60 Rulebook that is sold on its own. Is there anything necessary in this book that would make it a worthwhile purchase? Thanks in advance for any help!

Newest rulebook and Gangs of the Underhive is pretty much a must. Rest is optionable if you want to play a special gang like Enforcers or various cults.

Purchasing rulebooks is not reasonable. Uprising rulebook 2019 re-printed old errors from 2017 which was actually fixed in 2018. Rulebook 2018 have a lot of the scenarios from Gang War era, but they accidentally left out important info on some of them! They all have internal inconsistencies, conflicts with other books and broken stuff. With the news of individual House codex books, it is uncertain if the Gangs book will be obsolete or not.

Get yourself a fan made rules compilation. You will get 100% all content clean with proper layout.

Not worthwhile, but it does have some unique content:
-Dominion campaign (as bad as the other campaigns)
-Scenarios (mainly from Gang War era)
-House Sub-plots

Awesome, thanks for the responses. I wasn't sure if every house was getting its own book and won't be until I see them all. GW could very well lose interest halfway through and change their plan leaving some houses without a book of their own. Their track record with support for specialist games is shaky, with me at least. I just got Dark Uprising and Underhive and will pick up the other gangs soon along with Books of Judgement , Ruin, and Peril. Will have to hold off on Ganges of the Underhive if it is going to be replaced soon.

Books Of also introduce different campaign types, which can be blended together.

Unless you’re desperate for the Gangs within each volume, they’re ultimately optional. You do not need them to stay up to date etc.

For starting out with a campaign, I’d as always recommend keeping it fairly basic, until you and yours have a feel for the game. After that, go nuts!
