I've spent some time working on conversions of the Nemesis Dreadknight kit, using the conversion parts made by Antonis Bouras.
This is mostly technical help that I'm rendering to a friend, i.e. preparing digital parts for printing, merging them with the plastic model and putting some preliminary paint on it. He'll have to finish and base the models himself.

Note these images are thumbnails to the DakkaDakka Gallery, you can click them for enlarged views.

This is a quick comparison picture showing the kit plastic parts in grey and the printed parts in green.

You can find WIP picutures and a bunch of how-to information on my (otherwise inactive) blog: https://stephanius40k.blogspot.com/2020/02/building-better-nemesis-dreadknight.html

What do you think of the result?

Seamless, both stylistically and physically. Had I not known about (or seen the box art in the comparison pic) the 'baby carrier' and big pistons design of the original, I might have assumed it was a nicely painted stock model. Clean conversion, stylistically faithful, quality parts, and a nice paint job? I find absolutely nothing to fault, here. Good work, all around!

I've long felt that the Dreadknight is the weakest model in the current GW range.

But your tweaking makes for a fantastic result. To me it looks right in between 'suit of armor' and 'giant robot' aesthetically, and that fits the GK very well.

Awesome work.

Thank you for the very positive responses!
Note that I didn't sculpt the nice looking upgrade parts, I just made them work with the GW kit. =]

I put some Ready Base Mediterran Soil on the bases and added some tufts. The idea is to keep the basing easy and convenient to encourage my friend to base his army as soon as he's done painting his squads.
This mix doesn't have any grey in it and does contrast very well with the models in this dark silver scheme.

I'm curious if anyone has an idea for any scattered items that could go with the base as something random found on the ground the models are walking on.
I know they make deamon skulls in the GW skull pack, but I figure those are dumb, since the deamons are supposed to disintegrate upon death, rather than decay like living matter would.

Any ideas? What do you guys slap on our GK bases?
