I haven’t played the recent incarnation of Necromunda, so my opinions on that may be out of date...
I wouldn’t say that either is more complex.
I enjoy Kill Team more than I enjoyed Necromunda. I find KT to be a more tactically rewarding game.
I find KT to be more fun. I was frequently frustrated by Necro’s rules for things like guns jamming, I also enjoy the greater diversity of factions in KT.
KT hasn’t had rule *changes* as much as it has had rules additions. My experience is that between the Core rules and Elites, most players prefer to use those books.
I decidedly prefer KT to Necromunda. I would say that if you like campaign-style gaming, that Necro is better supported in that regard, with two caveats.
1: Winning more makes you win more. Players can reach critical mass, both positive and negative, in which completing a campaign / story becomes a foregone conclusion. When it gets down to it, campaigns need to handicap consistent winners so that the losing players continue to have a chance.
2: Blood Bowl is much more fun, in regards to a campaign / league experience. If *I* were looking for a system with linked games, Blood Bowl would be my go-to.
Additional: KT is blatantly a vehicle to get people into 40k proper... so if you like a KT and want to expand it, there’s a pretty natural progression to 40k. May be a side bonus, depending on how you look at it.
