Can someone give me the 4-1-1 on the Wrath of the Everchosen book? Good rules? Meh rules? Their last attempt at siege was pretty bad, but thats what has me excited to look here to see if they have improved on those.

I like them. The wandering monster & spell rules are complex enough to be functional yet simple enough to be practical. The siege rules I would say similar, though more of a base to build an experience off of. I would say that overall the book isn't trying to be everything to everyone; it has its niche and sticks to it.

The allegiances are rather tame, the only real exploits come because of horrors being broken in their current incarnation but even then it is hardly as bad as what Tzeentch allegiance puts out.

I would not be surprised if Bottle was involved in this book because it is definitely far more 'playable' than many supplements, it doesn't need 3000 points a side or some massive campaign to work well, it's just extra stuff you can use

Cool. I picked it up for the story. I don't know if I'll ever really play a game with it (currently largely thats a no because my area is now in tournament mode and well I'm not chasing the meta to play against those guys) but I'm curious to see where they took the rules.

There is still a warcry campaign going to happen in the summer that I plan on running and playing in, so maybe there are some things here I can work in.

I didn't even give them a look, to be honest. The absence of a current castle to use in a siege is my biggest hangup with their various attempts to make sieges happen in AoS. Not a fan of their "use any combination of terrain to represent the castle walls" take on it. Possibly because it makes me regret selling my Dreadhold stuff :(

The monster and Endless spell rules on the other hand will see some play here and there though, as I actually have the models.

That's actually my favorite part of the book. Narrative-wise its concise in that it only deals with 2 Death Factions and the entirety of Chaos. Other than some passing mention of Aelves while Archaon is out searching for Slaanesh, it keeps it focused. I'm not sure if anything has changed with the Psychic Awakening stuff, but in 40K I always hated how every narrative supplement would have a bit of everything and it would just feel watered down.

I loved the part :

Spoiler:
Where Archaon is in a rage and making short work of Katakros' escort unit of Mortek Guard and Katakros is still giving tactical appraisals to his advisors on how best to deal with Daemons.

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. Good supplement an I hope we get more just like it. Maybe Gordrakk and his cohorts v. Excelsis and its defenders?

I agree that focusing on a small area really worked out well. Trying to give something to everyone would have diluted the final product. I feel like there were a lot of good decisions made in the design direction of the book.

I noticed the varanguard are sold out on the US store. Are they finally not just there for the lolz?

Vigo. Spain.

I used them in a tournament this past weekend (I used daemonforge weapons). My list was pure Khorne with a Daemon Prince with Arch Slaugtherer as general with Blade of Judgement, two slaugtherpriest and one bloodsecrator for gore pilgrims, two 10 model units of bloodreavers, one 5 model unit of bloodwarriors, 9 Mighty Bloodcrushers and 3 Varanguard (And the skulls of khorne, the judgement)

I ended up second, defeating on the first round a triple keeper list. The Varanguard by themselves killed a Keeper with the double activation (Only one survived with 3 wounds, but he killed 10 daemonettes and won me the game). The other was killed by my daemon prince (With 17 mortal wounds) and the third one was killed by the Bloodcrushers (That didn't get the charge and could only hit him three at a time, they took 4 rounds of combat and 3 casualties to kill him)
In the second round they killed a Frost Phoenix that charged them, and in the third one they were devoured by a FEC lord on terrorgheist (That was the game I lost, but TBH It was totally my fault)

I like them. They are expensive, yeah. And they aren't invulnerable. Three varanguard for 300 points is a hard pill to swallow when you have a bloodthirster for 270. But at the same time, they are one of the most independent units out there. They are fast, they are durable, they hit hard, and they don't need any kind of buff to become actually usefull.
I always move them for the flank, and the enemy always needs to devote resources to deal with them.

Is a shame not having the Circles rules and bonuses but I can't see Archaon subfaction working.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Hopefully they’re getting a “start collecting” option. $125 for 6. Instant purchase.

Edit-just looked, they’re still available. Computer glitch?

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

The ability to actually get god keywords unlocked a huge number of avenues to success, coupled with a statline adjusted to bring them in line with modern power creep it was the shot in the arm they needed.
