I played against a space marine player my last time out at the club (I also caught him cheating, but that's beside the point) and he used a stratagem that allowed him to bring his centurion devastators as reserve units for only 1 cp per unit. Meanwhile centurions have no model limit per squad and paying cp to put units in reserve doesn't factor in towards the half value point limit for reserve units, what this does is effectively allow you to deploy your entire army in reserve with cp. This is a terrible stratagem that completely breaks the game from multiple angles, reserve units already have that ability integrated into their point cost; if you can circumvent all of that by simply paying a cp, it's opening up the gates of hell for exploitable units and circumstances. I don't see any reason to keep this type of stratagem in the game.

Literally nothing you just stated is correct.

You understand that a sizeable portion of factions in-game have this capacity right?

I really think you need to sit down with the space marine rulebook and actually read the rules, not battlescribe or what your opponent tells you but the actual book as you seem to have all of this wrong.

Cents have a max unit size and units put into reserve by strats are then in reserve so of course they do count.

Reserve deploying cents is very powerful but there are many tactics to deal with them, ask your opponents to show you the rules they are quoting or ask a more experienced player at you club for advice.

Yeah you apparently didn't catch all of that guys cheating. Sounds like whatever it was you caught was just the tip of the iceberg.

You should probably just ask aroudn if he does this to new players a lot, you might see the community at large willing to say "you played the jerk? don't let him phase you, we were thinking of banning him anyway."
There is enough abuse of new folk in warhammer as it is, unless he himself is so new he hasn't read the rules yet either. There is a way to deploy the whole marine army into reserve -- but its limited to drop pods, which do not explicitly count towards that limit, the cp stratagems DO.

Btw this guy is like a 40k veteran with a lot of tournament experience, and he brought 350 extra points in a 2000 pointer after I battlescribed his list. Also I'm pretty sure he cheated on the cards and possibly the dice. I'm completely sure this guy was a totally premeditated cheater and he probably tries to cheat whenever he can.

Don't play him again would be my advice.

But certainly it is well within your prerogative to ask to read someone's codex/rules when they are doing something and you want to clarify what allows them to do that thing.

You could have potentially been up against a an infiltrating Ravneguard centurion bomb which is another thing entirely?
You mean true deep strike or infilitrating I.E. deploying before the 1st turn more than 9" away?

It was a Raven Guard centurion bomb, but he brought them in on turn 2 as reserve units

Not only don't play him again, make sure as many people at your club know he's a blatant cheater. With any luck the next time he shows up no one will play him. At the very least they'll know what to expect.

Yeah, it sounds like he cheated a LOT.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's not even telling the truth about going to tournaments.
