Hi. Learning the game and 2 armies so I can get a friend back into it(im back new too) and its so hard learning it all(and the 2 armies).

I have printed army lists on BS...but its such a wall of info. Even tried porting it to that Buttscribe that somebody mentioned...helps but still a lot for me to take in.

I note GW have a pre order for a Commander Shadowsun Data Sheet ( https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Greater-Good-Datasheet-Cards-EN-2020 )

This is more what im used to from other games(not saying its perfect....just what im used to and imo would be easier for me and my mate). do we think they will release cards like this for most units or is it impracticale given the choices of weapons etc for many units?

Every time I've asked GW staff their reply has been it would be impractical for 40k - although there is currently one set available (Imperial Knights).

Sadly 8th edition is simply a bloated mess. You either have to stick with it or don't. It's only going to get worse.

Even GW agrees with me, send an email to 40kfaq@gwplc.com for a confirmation reply "4. Apply The Rules As Written. If you still don’t have a satisfactory answer, use the rule just as it is written if you possibly can, even if you are not completely happy with the effect the rule has."

Start small and work up.

Diving into any edition of 40K is tough. 7th? If you didn’t memorise the USRs and the USRs that linked to other USRs and the lookup tables it was a ballache to learn.

Play small, work up, add more complexity as you get confident with the basics.

And ignore bad hot takes like the one just above, and have fun.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

If it is important to you, you could readily make your own.
You can pretty much copy and laminate some stuff out of your books to make things easier.
I just did OCR and stuffed each section into an Excel sheet and then output to a set-format card.

OR

You just use Army Builder or Battlescribe to piece your army together.

Lots of ways of making this work.
