Hi everyone!

Please forgive my ignorance but I'm building an Astartes Army and want to field a Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought, is this something I can do and if so how?
As it's a forgeworld model and from the 30k era I thought there might be some restrictions to playing on in a 40k army, but I've read somewhere that Astartes can have access to these ..... but cant find where. Now I dont want to field a Relic Contemptor Dreadnought, I want to field a Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought.
Also, does it matter that I want to use it in a successor chapter ??

Any advise and guidance is very much appreciated.

Sorry if this has been covered before.

The rules for the contemptor mortis are in the forge world index for Marines. https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Imperial-Armour-Index-Adeptus-astartes-2017

FYI GW is currently working on updating the forge world rules, so we should have new rules for them some time this year.

Step 1: You open your Imperial Armour Index: Forces of the Adeptus Astartes book, https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Imperial-Armour-Index-Adeptus-astartes-2017
Step 2: You find the proper entry
Step 3: You note what slot it takes & any restrictions etc. Don't forget to check for any FAQs/Errata.
Step 4: You pay the points (might need pts booklet from CA19 for this)
Step 5: Game on.

Oh, and build a correctly armed model.

And no, it doesn't matter what chapter you're using.

22pts extra for a Relic Contemptor, with 2W more and a 6+++

Unless you desperately need it in a Heavy Support spot you’re better off with the Relic version tbh.

He also will have to run a non relic Elites choice to run a Relic Contemptor - Contemptor Mortis dreads do not need another Heavy Support choice to do the same.

You were probably gonna take at least one anyway so not a massive hardship.
