I know rules came out in White Dwarf (I think it was march 2019 or something like that). Rules like the headshot and the ability to be able to bring assassins as part of a vanguard detachment etc.

my question is ... have any new rules come out since .... I heard there wassomthing about them in the December white dwarf 2019 or maybe even January 2020?

Basically I want to take one with my Ultramarines army I was under the assumption that I will love combat doctrines and will of course loose my doctrine bonus. Is there any other "penalty" resulting from taking one ?

There was an errata and FAQ that changed the cost of some stratagems, changed the "Buy an assassin" stratagem to only be usable if you have no assassins in your army already, and to clarify that adding an assassin in any way, shape, or form to a Space Marine army will break combat doctrines.

Also a points nerf in CA19.

Thanks. I think I can safely finally take one without being cheap. That’s a lot to give up in exchange for one model I think ... you ? I don’t play competitively but I know it’s waaaaaay out of the “in thing” to do right now as opposed to a year or so ago.

Cardiff

Tbh it’s not worth it for losing Doctrines. They’re gross. An Assassin is only OK at 95pts and kinda meh at 95 and 2CP.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

Agreed.

If you're intentionally wanting to hobble your list to make it a fairer match against a weaker opponent then cool, go for it. So long as you're aware it is a significant nerf to your list.

Thank you for the replies and sorry for the delay in response ... yeah I mean I really just wanted it for the opportunity to snipe out say a Shrike or Say and Typhus but ... when I see all that I loose ... in particular my doctrine bonus (which for me is scions of gulliman in the tactical doctrine) it as you say kind of in a way makes my army way less efficient , maybe more fun to play against a weaker opponent list though as you had mentioned ... I hesitate to change my list for my opponent because if someone doesn’t think one thing is cheap they will think something else is cheap anyhow ... for example I got disparaged the other day just for simply equipping my intersessors with stalker bolt rifles instead of regular bolt rifles .... this coming from an opponent who has an army wide 5 up feel no pain

It should be noted that since my previous post the Space Marines received a somewhat significant nerf. While my point still stands, and while Ultramarines are probably least affected by the nerfs, giving up doctrines isnt quite as bad as it was a few days ago. It's still bad, but it's not absolutely awful in all circumstances.

Yeah .... I use tactical for two turns usually anyway and the turn 4 assault anyhow
