I have a long neglected box of CSM terminators. I never really got around to deciding what their load out would be.
Advice?
They'd be going in a pile of rhino'd Khorne Bs with Hammer wielding SmashCaps (and GoreFather). The list is decidedly low on shooting. For now, the idea of going with Oblits is out. I don't feel like paying $50 for two. Already owning 9 of them on 40 mm bases is its usual "GW has made your old models obsolete. Suck it!" level of being dedicated to the hobby.
There's a Night Lord Patrol detachement, with a sorceror & Warp Talons.
So, those termies:
Combi bolters and ... ?

Night lords terminators with plasma and chainaxe work great. Prey on the weak means you can freely overcharge and you can use in midnight clad to make them a little tougher.

There's nothing wrong with using your old obliterators, unless you feel too peer pressured and must buy the new ones.

Hmm. I should survey that with the local group. There's been some model/hobby tightening up.
And of course, smaller based models (shooty ones) have smaller footprints so, it's opponents' advantage.

Effective and fluffy. Now to see how many plasma guns are on the sprues (there's a few in the bits bin).

Edit:
Wow. This box is so old, it does not match GW's current box. No plasmagun bits, just combi bolters with flamer & melta.
Weeel, if I paint some orange/red stripes on top of the bolters ...

Sounds like you have the old metal terminators. No combi-plasma was available back then as far as I know.
I guess base size all depends on your local group(s). I decided to upscale just the characters of my armies, the rest of my vast oceans of models are on their original bases. And I think the only exception to that is my old school broadsides are now on 50mm bases, because its more appropriate to the size of the model.
I left my oblits alone, they shoot once and die anyhow.

Plastic. I think it's 3 years old. I waited for 8e to drop, then went with the Oblits, alpha legion and all that early 8e comedy.

I already got a local GT ruling that my oblits need to be on the bigger bases. Which, I will view as an opportunity to hobby some creative basing, like adding that half inch in height to match what's current.
