Hello everyone, i've been intrested about new scions since their psychic awakening book arrived, and the Kappic Eagles seems a solid winner. So let me know what your thoughts are, any advice are appreciated.

Valkyrie (multilaser, 2x heavy bolter, 2x multiple rocket pod) 137
Valkyrie (multilaser, 2x heavy bolter, 2x multiple rocket pod) 137
Total: 2000, 18cp (-1 for extra relic)
Tactics; 3x squad with meltas are in deep strike reserve, for later turns to go for objectives or busting heavier targets. Everyone else starts the game embarked in valkyries. My plan is to strike hard at turn one and hopefully some scions are still alive after opponent retaliates. I'm going to spend 6cp before the game for valkyries (giving hard-to-hit, even when hovering) and every turn 1cp for inspired tactics (so that every Prime can give 3x order for squads). The banner-guy in the command squad is an ablative wound, should the squad suffer any casualties during disembark. I'm not sure about astropath's power, he's mostly in the list because of psychic denial and removing cover save..

Seems decent to me and has some cool stuff I didn't think about, so thank you. I am concerned about your ability to take and hold objectives though. For a Scion army, you actually don't have many Scions, especially for a 2,000 point game. Once they get out of those Valkyries it won't take much to remove them. A few other points:
- Lord Commissars are meh. Those HQ slots would be better filled with 3x Primaris Psykers for access to Smite, Nightshroud, Psychic Barrier and Deny the Witch. At that point, you could get rid of the Astropath.
- If the Banner is just an ablative, then why waste the points on it? Just run a regular guy with a Hot-Shot Lasgun. Unless you're going for rule of cool and three banners on the table is very cool. You know what, I'm going to do that because I can. makes for a sweet painting project.
- I despise Multi-Lasers on Valkyries. Multi-Lasers are the most useless weapon in 8th edition. An extra 10 points per Valkyrie for a Lascannon is totally worth the investment. Especially since you're hovering all game giving them a +1 to hit.
- One tiny list-building error... The Tempestor Prime in the first battalion can't take a Plasma Pistol and a Command Rod. It's one or the other. They can take one ranged weapon (which a Command Rod replaces) and one close combat weapon.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Good points, I totally didn't noticed the plasma pistol thingy, i'll guess I drop the pistol. And yes, my infantry are likely going to be toast after they get out from transports, which is why I brought commissar to help with leadership (they also have a stratagem to auto-pass). The banners are also for the rule of cool, as you mentioned. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough points for lascannons.

Looks good. Similar to my Scion Drop Troops but more streamlined. I went more for flavor and took bullgryn as well as a Vendetta Gunship and a Valkyrie Gunship. That said I hope it does well!

I almost run every single scion in 5 man small units, for that very reason, and have not in the last 4 games lost a single one to morale. In place of your commisars, I carry 3 psyker primaris, and the spammed smiting they can churn out is actually very useful for scraping the occasional difficult melee unit away. (I also have a fourth one, an inquisitor, and a malstrom astropath, so I can focus a lot of psy damage on something that way, without getting it stuck in in melee with all the officers.)
Points for lascannons are key. I note that if you use an officer of the fleet (20 points) and 6 upgrades (80 points) you can reasonably expect to hit with 2 lascannons even on turns all your valks are moving around, and you can expect to hit with 3 or 4 when they aren't. That's a firewower output similar to a full scions 5 man squad (which it more or less replaces) but it also helps with the 24d6 bolters your little fleet shoots. Assuming an average barrage count numebr, and assuming you are hovering but also moving, you should hit an extra 8 or so heavy bolter shots home with your birds. Even if all you do is put an officer of the fleet in, its sort of worth it to you, drop him out, fire everything, use his special mortal wounds attack, and he should make his points back instantly in enemys being hit who would have been missed, etc etc. You are basically an artillery section worth of flyers, and an OoF may be rare to pay off well, but seriously think about it.
I do like your army as it is, I mean, reading it, I like. Set, however, it in MSU style so it does not need the banners, maybe make 1 melta squad into a plasma squad, and you should be able to afford the banners all to become hsvg.
