Rather than go from a bone colour, i.e. GW Ushabti Bone, up to a white using normal highlighting methods, I am wondering if I can go from white down to a bone colour by thinning the bone colour to the point that it's more of a glaze, and would leave the white showing through on the highpoints, and then use a darker colour (GW Seraphim Sepia or Agrax Earthshade for example) selectively and precisely to fill in the recesses?
Anyone know if this would work? And what would I thin the paint with, Lahmian Medium?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like normal wash/ink/contrast style painting. May require a final highlight to help clean the look up, but should more or less work. Honestly, best bet is water, or possibly airbrush thinner if you got really thin.
Luckily I have 5 of the same heads so I can have a play around with it.
I would buy Skeleton Horde Contrast and use it over white, but it's just too expensive just for one head...
I did come across a Warhammer Community page where someone was showing their recipe for doing Skeletons, and they used a white undercoat then went over it with undiluted Seraphim Sepia so I might try that also.
Just want a quick way of doing a skull helmet nicely with what I've already got in the way of paints.
