Rather ambitiously, I'm going to try to paint this big blue feller this month. He's like the king of the space marines isn't he?

Can I be the first to request an extension from Para now?

Here's a WIP shot of Guilliman. I spent so long painting all that gold trim that for a whole night if I closed my eyes I saw blue with gold lines.

I should finish this as I am having to self-isolate. It's not the best situation, because I am in the high-risk group, and I do actually seem to have Covid-19 judging by my symptoms and the fact that my wife and kid have also gone down with the classic Covid-19 symptoms. So far they both seem to have very mild cases, Mine is a bit more severe, but so far not really anything to worry about. I'm not close to having to go to hospital or anything yet, and I doubt it will come to that. It's worse in the evenings. Most of today I felt quite a bit better, but this evening the coughing has got pretty bad. I wouldn't say I have genuine breathing difficulties though. My health situation is not that I would have more chance of catching it, but more difficulty fighting it off. That's the worrying thing, but if I analyse it rationally I haven't had a trajectory of my symptoms getting worse and worse, and I reckon I'm generally getting better now. It might not even be Covid-19! It could be just a generic virus. Work have told me to stay at home "for the foreseeable future" with full pay (unless we go out of business) which is pretty mind-boggling. Anyway, I thought I should update you guys.

A couple more WIP pics. I've put loads more hours into this, but you can barely see any difference.

Obviously the hair and laurel wreath still need to be finished, but the face is done. I don't think I can improve it. I keep tinkering with the armour though, trying to refine it, smooth out the rough edges. I have to tell you all - the rumours are true. Guilliman is an absolute bastard to paint. I was poking and prodding away for hours yesterday with a 00000 brush and magnifying glasses. All the gold is highlighted with silver, although you can't really see it in the photos, and shaded with riekland fleshshade and purple in the recesses. Are there any areas of the blue that stand out as needing some work? I keep seeing tiny areas where I've gone outside the lines, or the blends aren't very good, although the areas you're trying to blend are so tiny it's very difficult. For example, just looking now I notice a tiny spot at the bottom of his right leg, just by the inside ankle, where the fleshshade bled onto the blue a bit and discoloured it. I could end up fiddling with this forever.

As a side question, how much tinkering is too much?

Lots of lovely stuff appearing.

I did come on to post that I've finally finished Guilliman, but I've just realised that I've forgotten to add a final highlight to the chapter symbols. This is think the fifth or sixth false finish I've had on him today, having missed the sword handle, the wires going up the sword, a screen on his backpack, some bits on the torches on the base, and a thousand other details.

He's genuinely the hardest thing I've ever painted.

I've finished Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines.

As I've mentioned, he's the hardest thing I've ever painted. Detail overload! Still, I'm glad to have got him finished. After I finished him, I painted a goblin, one of the Zarbag's Gitz Warhammer Underworld warband, in about half an hour.

Thanks mate. Looking at the pictures now, I'm getting annoyed with the areas that aren't perfect and wanting to go and touch them up.

I do feel better, actually. The cough is still hanging around, and I have a bit of a lack of energy, but I'm much better than this time last week. I don't know if I had Covid-19 or just a different virus, but if I did I got off pretty lightly.

That's a really cool idea, Tim 121RVC. I think the Ghostbusters are going to have their hands full with this one.

Get well soon, Garrlor. Hope you can enter next month.

Those Redgrass brushes do look good. I've been using their wet palette for ages and it's great. Maybe I'll give one of their brushes a try.
