Well, even though I haven't bought any Legion stuff besides some accessories I found on sale. It is a sure thing that my X-Wing buddies and I are going to be hopping into Legion. Played a few demo games so far with the starter set, but was thinking about how we could possibly link our games together for some casual gaming. Here is what we came up with.

We play three games, a game of X-Wing first, a game of Legion Skirmish, and than a full game of Legion.

The winner of the X-Wing game gets 50 extra army points for the full game of Legion to represent being able to land more troops/supplies due to air superiority.

The winner of the Legion Skirmish game gets to pick three mission cards to remove before the full game of Legion, while the loser only gets to remove one, to represent the winner of the skirmish game being able to control the battlefield conditions a bit better.

What do you all think? Is 50 points too much extra, not enough? Could something else be done instead of just extra army points? Want the game of X-Wing and Legion Skirmish to have an impact on the full game of Legion, without making it too one sided.

If you're going to link games in a narrative sense, you should make the rewards narrative as well. For example, you could say Leia can't play her Coordinated Bombardment card unless a Y-Wing or something survives the X-Wing game. Maybe tie some of the X-Wing upgrade cards as "loot" from games of Legion. Stuff like that.

Very fair points, we were just thinking of how to keep the rewards fairly generic so we can have a system where we can swap our lists on the fly without having to redo what conditions are linked to the rewards.

My experience is the more generic the rewards, the more the links become disheartening instead of encouraging. Even small rewards cultivate this self defeating attitude of "I lost this game so I guess I lose the next one too" that doesn't seem to crop up as strongly if there's more of a story around it. Part of the appeal of minis is the sense of varied parity. You need to give players a purpose behind messing with the latter part of that to keep them invested week to week.
