Here's a piece of fanart.
I always liked that imagery and would love to see it return at some point.
I literally
made a thread about this depiction in the
40k Background forum. I'm playing with the idea of building this army. Pelicanforce posted some great third party models that I could convert and use as counts-as Breachers.
Here's how Abnett described the Skitarii commander:
He was resplendent in hawked threat-armor, his feather edged cloak whipping out behind him. Ivory chevrons were inlaid on either side of the Icon Mechanicus on his blood gold breastplate. A dappled panther pelt dressed his massive shoulders over the feathered cape, and tusk spikes rose from the wings of the crimson steel half-mask that framed the hololithic yellow slits of his eyes. He had raised the iridescent fan of quilled skin around the back of his skull to accentuate his menace.
Mind you, he's wearing a half-mask instead of a helmet because he uses his jaw to bite people to death. That fan art is great for an infantry Skitarii, but it's those insane little details like the halo made of his own flesh that are quintessentially
40k.

HQ? Honestly I'd love to see this with the future Admech wave but I doubt we'll see it
The 30k unit's called an Axiarch, but he's a Secutarii
HQ so a normal Skitarii
HQ might not have the exact same title.
The Skitarii in the novel are specifically Titan Legion Invicta's infantry, which are now called Secutarii. I'm sure the Axiarch is a reference to this particular character.
