Has anybody tried using Goof Off to strip models before? In the past I've found if can get paint off pretty much anything. I just bought a couple of xiphon Interceptors (the old types) and they need to be stripped, but I'm not sure what the models are made of, and if the Goof off is going to damage whatever that is.

Are those not resin?

Is it a fast stripping process with good off or is a soak job?

The resin can get soft and sticky if left to soak too long

Well, it's pretty amazing gak. I've used it to get baked-on graffiti off colorbond fencing before. I see people using all manner of ridiculous products and 'solutions' to strip models that involve far too many steps and far too much money. And they're dirty.

Goof off? You just brush it on, let it sit and wash it off. If you can glad-wrap a model (which really anyone should be able to do with any model) it works better and faster.

I didn't pay much for the models. I'm gonna give it a shot and report the results. I cannot see why it wouldn't work, unless it liquefies the model.

I use methylated spirits (denatured alcohol) to strip plastics, deep bath and scrub and the paint just breaks away.

I did have a quick look for goof off ingredients, the original stuff had DN Alcohol, the newer stuff seems to be acetone based so I'd be careful with the jets.
It wll just melt plastic and make resin turn to sticky bendy mess

There were never any plastic xiphon interceptors. Those are probably resin.

I've been stripping plastic and resin models with purple power degreaser from Walmart. Stuff is aces.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

I will pass on an old model Railroaders trick. For stripping anything & won’t hurt plastic, but is very toxic wear gloves, Soak it in DOT 3 brake fluid, then wash thoroughly with dish soap & water, use an old toothbrush to scrub it clean

Or Purple Power. Works just fine and won't kill you or your pets.
