Thinking of continuing to build a carccharodons force but keep it on the shelf until they get their own Codex. They're far and away my favorite chapter buy not really being able to field Tyberus without breaking Chapter tactics has really taken the spirit out of me wanting to play them.
I do REALLY like BA and they seem to be up to scratch Codex-wise. Anyone playing them competitively?

Blood of Baal and the recent changes to Doctrines have made Blood Angels somewhat competitive now. They certainly hit hard and several signature units got a price drop.
They are still CP hungry so I wouldn't run them as less then dual battalion. They rely a lot on stratagems whereas other Chapters can do a lot with the baked-in bonuses of their Traits and super-doctrine.
Someone went 5-1 with them recently at one of the big Tournaments using a Sanguinary Priest with Icon of the Angels and 3 7-man squads of Sanguinary Guard. An 8" charge on the drop with rerolls is good enough to be dangerous.
They may not be quite top tier but I think you can run a decently competitive army without feeling like you are deliberately handicapping yourself.

Excellent, thanks. I'm not trying to win any tournaments, just want to be able to hold my own in local competitive games. so I'm ok with them being moderately good. Do you know where I can find out how death company works without buying the BA codex? I don't really understand what units can be made death company or how many of them I'm allowed to field.

Check the vanguard tactics batrep from yesterday on youtube against iron hands. Stephen Box won a RTT going 5-0 with his list. He has a DC squad amd 3 squads of SG. Board control and massed assault.

They are quite competitive as long as you run them to their strengths.
Lots of powerful characters backed up by deathcompany and Sang guard is fast, powerful and fun.
If you want to run a more mixed marine or primaris force then you will be much better off with the standard marine book.
Deathcompany come in a few different flavours, Standard (with or without Jumppacks), Primaris intercessor version, Dreadnought version, named chaplain and named captain - They all have their own datasheets and are selected and taken just as normal units are. There is also a strat to make a character become DC at the start of the game.

You are probably best off getting the codex as you will need it for all the stuff that didn't get revised/added in Blood of Baal.
Basically Death Company is a unit in its own right. Each DC Marine comes with a bolter and you buy 5-15 in a squad. You can buy them Jump packs and a selection of close combat weapons. They are best led by one of the Special Character chaplains (Lemartes or Astorath).
You can now get Primaris Death Company but they are just an Intercessor squad with no special wargear options or jump packs and the DC special rules pasted on. Not really worth it in my oppinion.

Thanks guys. I started making a melee DC/BA deathball, the list is in this board. Needs tweaking/work, and needs the shooty component to round it out.

Can't argue with the results, but the need for tripointing is very immersion breaking. I don't care for the jump DC myself, which is a shame given how many strats and stuff revolve around them.
