Hi guys,

Yesterday I was chatting with RiTides via PM. I got 4 individual messages for him as we went back and forth. These were pretty rapid-fire, all within the space of - at best - 30 minutes, I believe, an hour at most for the entire chat. This was at about 16:30 CDT.

The timestamps I got notifications via email for the PMs:

March 16th 18:20 CDT
March 16th 20:48 CDT
March 16th 21:33 CDT
March 17th 12:58 CDT (!)

Is this on the Dakka end, or the Google one?

Just checked my PM times against email times and they are all within 30sec of each other (using outlook).

Ok, perhaps it's on Google's end then.

Thanks!

Hmmm, I wouldn't know because apparently my email notifications are off! (I just check the site )

Weird that google would delay them, as compared to outlook...

Yes, gmail has some kind of strange interaction with our automated email server. When someone signs up using a gmail account, it sometimes takes hours for the activation email to reach them.

But obviously we're not flagged as being spam, as the message does eventually arrive, its just something with google vs. our mail server that creates such an annoying delay. I wish I could figure out how to resolve it!

Wow, that is weird. I wondered if it was like that script that sometimes gets stuck not rotating images on the front page.

In my case it sort of doesn't matter, since I see them on the site anyway; but good to know. Thank you all for the responses.
