There seems to be a massive discrepancy between these two characters and their cost. As in, Amalynn seems massively over-costed in comparison. My information is that she is 50 pts and he is 65. Amalynn is basically a ranger with 2 wounds and 2 attacks (and an invuln save which is a big deal). Yet Illic is basically better in every single stat, his rifle has good ap, does multiple wounds, wounds on a 2+ etc etc.

Now is this my ignorance? Amalynn is of course from the Blackstone Fortress game. Are all the models from that game priced at a different scale? Is this really planned or just another gaff by GW? Or do I somehow have the point cost for Amalynn incorrect?

At her current cost she seems completely unplayable, and I'm not really a super competitive guy. But sheesh, 4 rangers for the same price...

Love the model and play in a friendly group, So i can use it as a stand-in for Illic.

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

None of the BSF characters are particularly great in 40k. You run them because you like the models and have found a slot to put them in(the hardest part)

As with all similar models, they seem to give them point costs so you can play them in narrative games, but make sure they don't have an impact on the game balance.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Ok, so I'm not missing anything here. It probably is a planned thing to avoid any issues in the comp scene. Thanks for the input.

Play as Ilic for sure, best way to use model.
Or if you are feeling extra heretical, take a Xeno Inquisitor, and use her as a Vindicaire assassin
