Is there a way to take it off easily, or do I just paint over them a blackish/grey color (as thats my sand color)

just paint it, if you want the easy option. try to remove it, or rebase, if you want the unnecessarily difficult option.

Agreed with the above. It really depends how it was glued on as well. Which might be hard to tell. Sometimes PVA will peel off in one layer, but can warp the actual base in the process. Iv'e saved bases this way, but not with a model basically in the way.

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

As a general rule, I would always advise painting sand. It keeps the basing looking consistent with the rest of the model (unpainted elements tend to stand out), it helps seal the material to the base, and it keeps you safe from any changes in composition over time.
