So, I'm starting up my drukhari as allies for my craftworlds army.
I've got the Christmas box and some other stuff so I thought I'd start with the Talos. I don't have the codex yet so I'm using battlescribe as a guideline.
Going through the assembly instructions I'm a bit confused by the options for the arms.
For the right arm I can use a hook, cleaver or hand, alternatively chain flails?
For the left I can use a hook or cleaver, alternatively ichor injectors or twin liquidiser guns?
According to battlescribe the defaults are macro scalpels, do the hook, cleaver and hands count as the scalpels?
Battlescribe lists a Talos gauntlet as an option but I'm guessing that is a legends options since it's not in the kit?
Finally, since I'm here what is a good option for the tail guns?

both the hook and cleaver are the macro-scalpels.
The talos gauntlet should be in the kit, its the one with a hand on it.

For me the best loadout is macro+chain+stinger pod. i'll upgrade the pods to haywire blasters if i have the pts for it, but its not a priority.

stay away from the spliter cannon since the rest of our army has no problem with poison weapons and you really dont want to put heatguns on a bs4+ guy that wants to advance every turn its not in combat

I don't know why they don't label the hook/cleaver/hand options more clearly.
I figured those would be good options for the tail, shame the heat lances aren't a better option but like you say they just don't have the ballistic skill to make them viable.

It's because the kits now 10 years old and these options didn't exist before 8th, they were just a Close Combat Weapon that you could customise the look of (though the Chain Flail and Ichor Injector have always been weapon options for this kit).

As for the Heat Lance, BS has nothing to do with it, S6 is useless for a single shot anti tank gun. I'd echo staying away from the Splinter Cannons, way too pricey for what they do, the Stinger Pod and Haywire Blasters are the best options, but shooting with Talos is always going to be incidental more than anything. I'd stay away from the Talos Gauntlet as well, it's a truly aweful weapon.

That explains a lot, it did seem strangely vague!

I've played with 8-9 Talos a lot in 8th and I pretty much just modelled them with whatever looked cool. Nobody knows what any of the Talos weapons are anyway.

That's a true statement.

Also, spamming Talos works pretty well against Marines. The one DE player locally fields at least four in a 1000 point army and they give me fits.
