I am proud to announce that the first Legions of Steel Kickstarter went live yesterday and funded in the first day. You can check it out here.

It is a re-release of the 1990s legendary Legions of Steel miniatures and the PnP version of the game. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/legionsofsteel/classic-legions-of-steel-scifi-35mm-metal-miniatures?ref=creator_nav

For that day and age, yes. Nowadays, though, they don’t even rival Mantic’s.

Classic is becoming the polite way of saying “horribly dated” like avocado green and golden harvest colored appliances .

In some cases, that is true (Behemoth suits and Pathfinders) but the Fantasians and some of the later Machines were quite good, and still stand up to many current sculpts.

Also, Global's old Inferno series was excellent.

The demos for Adepticon were listed as LOS 2nd edition (and i was so looking forward to trying it).
Is that in the works as well or is the plan just to republish/recast the classic figures?

That’s pretty much precisely what it is...

Yes, essentially a Space Hulk variant, but it was the gateway to Planetstorm, their tabletop war game. You can still find Planetstorm out there pretty cheap, and it has a TON of units and some pretty great fluff for the aliens: Black Empire (baroque matriarchy), Fantasians (Cold War Russian Walruses) and the Infranites (Tribal rock people with a Predator motif).

Hoping to see revised rules for that eventually.

As an aside, with the exception of 3 units, I think they managed to produce miniatures of all their units (3 colossal units: Xin Raptor, War Bear and Rock Lobster). Although I could swear I saw a Rock Lobster somewhere...probably just my foggy memory.

I've seen boxed Xin Raptors and Rock Lobsters on Ebay so those two were produced.

And for those new to Legions Of Steel, these 3 units only had Planetstorm rules, not LOS so you don't have to worry about them for the kickstarter. Sure you could reverse engineer the rules, but they still would be too big to fit in a standard Machine complex

Damn...2 units I am missing. I still have 6 Black Chariots in boxes...probably time to finish my armies.

Space Hulk, mixed with Terminator. We were working with the experimental table top rules back in the day when I ended up getting transeferred over to Korea. I lost track of this gem.

I am happy to say that I still have that great big beast in the back somewhere, he was like an overfiend or some such. It was like a 4 armed necron/ chaos hybrid.

Who were those Human guys names, the UNE, or something? Then they had a starter alien race that I forgot the name of...

Damn, I might have to back this one for old times sake, and get in touch with the designers. We played this a lot back in 92-93, over at The Hobbit, in Fayetteville, NC.

You folks have made my day, I've almost got a warm old good leather jacket feel of this game.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Yep, the forces were the UNE, the Machines, the Black Empire, Fantasians and Infranites.

You guys know anywhere I can look up the models and background lore?

It all looks familiar but unfamiliar at the same time.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

There are a very few resources left...
https://stevegibsongames.wordpress.com/legions-of-steel/ has a pretty good write-up, BGG has some info, and you can see pics of the various minis online.

If you get a copy of Planetstorm it literally has an image and product code for each miniature.

The backgrounds a bit similar to Ringo's Legacy of the Aldenata/Polseen books, though it predates them by about a decade

An evil Machine Intelligence(s?) is trying to wipe out organic life.
It's early strategy was to secretly land on worlds, build giant factory complexes underneath, and then invade the surface and wipe out the sentients.
Think of it as Hivefleet Skynet.

Many (but not all-looking at you Black Empire) of the star-faring species have banded together into a "League of Aliens" in a desperate attempt to combat the Machines.
Part of this involves roping less advanced species in the Machines path into the fight, such as Earth.

The core box is one of the United Nations of Earth's first assaults on a Machine world.

For more data and information check out https://los.turtleshellprod.com. I never knew about it, but it is a community for LoS fans!

Also, I found all my unbuilt stuff, including a pair of S1 Archfiends and a host of Infranites, Black Legion, etc. I will be curious which minis Marco releases during this KS, as I am definitely missing key figures for squad-building.
