I'm not talking about just for champions, but I think that regular berzerkers should be able to take two chainswords. While it's true that this would give berzerkers one extra attack with a reduced price as well, these aren't very powerful weapons to begin with, and they're only one point difference from chainaxes. This would be fair imo since it would give berzerkers a slight bump in a meta that poses a lot of challenges for melee units, as well as would address the issue created by the fact that GW tends to be very stingy with its chainaxes, at least when it comes to Chaos.

The issue with Berserker Marines is getting to melee, not that they can't take two Chainswords.

If you want to make a real suggestion, I've been wanting them to have access to Eviscerators. That'd be cool.

I ran the math a while ago, and in the vast majority of cases, two Chainswords is actually BETTER than a Chainaxe/Chainsword.

Now, this was before the extra attack on the charge, so it might've changed, but as Slayer says, Berserkers don't really have issues killing stuff. They have trouble GETTING to kill stuff.

I wouldn't mind playing against it in casual games if you'd modelled yours with it, I don't see how it would improve them in terms of pts-efficiency. You're spending pts or CP to get them into combat, might as well have something of actual worth get in.

3S5 AP-1 vs 4 S4 AP-0 is better against most targets and easily worth that one point IMO, would you ever take chainswords over chainaxes on Terminators? With chainaxes you're a threat to Knights, Cents and Aggressors.

Disregard the following math it is bad, JNA is probably right.
Spoiler:

Chainsword increases damage by 33% for those 3 attacks, chainaxe by 33% against T4, 50% against T5, 100% against T8. Chainaxe further increases damage by 100% against 2+, 50% against 3+, 33% against 4+, 25% against 5+, 20% against 6+, 0% against 7+/invuln primary save. Against T3 7+ Sv, yes you're getting 33% extra damage for -1 pt, but against Aggressors you're getting 125% extra damage with the axe. The axe becomes relatively stronger if you're running World Eaters. All this for 7% more pts.

Chainsword vs all: 1,33

Axe vs:
*Ork Boys: 1,2*1,33=1,596
*Hormagaunts: 1,2
*Genestealers: 1,33
*Bloodletters: 1
*Immortal: 1,33*1,5=1,995
*Centurion: 1,33*2=2,66
*Aggressor: 1,5*1,5=2,25
*Knight: 2*1,5=3

Axe (assuming +1 to wound) vs:
*Ork Boys: 1,2*1,25=1,5
*Hormagaunts: 1,2
*Genestealers: 1,25
*Bloodletters: 1
*Immortal: 1,25*1,5=1,875‬
*Centurion: 1,25*2=2,5
*Aggressor: 1,33*1,5=1,995
*Knight: 1,5*1,5=2,25

I don't think Chaos has eviscerators, I guess they'll have to fight the Sororitas for them.

Berserkers are S5 base.

That changes everything, I've never played against anything but the axes, the S6 didn't come into play often enough that I remembered it.

I do agree that berzerkers' issue is getting to the front lines, and giving them an extra chainsword is indeed better than the chainaxe. I just think that given the proliferation of chainswords, it would be fair to allow the rank and file to go in with two instead of forcing most of them to use a less effective and less fluffy bolt pistol.

They don't, but they also didn't have Thunder Hammers until now. Even if it were just an item for them, it would be a good option for them to tackle bigger stuff, and they have the attacks to actually do something with them. Once again though, they have issues getting to melee, not killing small fry.
