Giver the red armor of the Blood Ravens, I imagine they would have some alternate colors for displaying ranks. Google largely turned up Blood Angels info and a host of great-looking Blood Ravens minis, but I can't find a definitive pattern of rank markings.

I'm starting a Blood Ravens army and want to keep it as lore-accurate as possible.

Thanks!

there's nothing offical out there, on my blood ravens I tend to just use white helmets. I've seen others use white with black.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Rik Turner's Blood Ravens, which GW has included in both of their Index Astartes articles has sergeants with white helmets.

The original Index Astartes shows an illustration of a veteran sergeant's helmet which is red with a winged skull on the forehead.

EDIT: The Dawn of War III opening cinematic shows a white-helmeted Tactical sergeant.

The blood ravens are known as an intelligent chapter, maybe they would eschew the use of highly visible markings on leaders for the same reason modern armies do.

Most modern armies still visibly mark leaders. During the chaos of battle it is important that soldiers be able to quickly determine what the chain of command is. Granted they’re not as obvious as plumes or really fancy hats but they serve the same point.

40k pulls a lot of its imagery from more archaic forms of war. The leader markings make for a more visually appealing army. Trying to apply any modern logic to 40k is fairly pointless.
