Ok - so in this time of quarantine I have been fooling around with Tabletop Simulator to fun results (a friend brought an AOS 55 bullgor army with a tyrant it was nuts). I have been experimenting with a competitive custodes list mixing fast infantry and the core tanks (trajan, vexilia, callidus)

Now certain things I added was an outrider attachment. Here everything deepstrikes in including the Allarus Shield Captain. All the Venatari also DS with their 18” 2 dmg pistols wrecking havoc and flying capping objectives or table quarters. I really like their ability to close combat as well and if they survive they can pistol shoot into combat.

Last but not least I have hector Rex - who can also deepstrike but also has 2 casts and 3 denys which is supplier useful (can also generate command points with psychic power).

Hector Rex. So awesome.
There is a strategem for him to get an extra ability, and a free inquisi relic, for 1 cp. except he does not get a relic because named character.
Since he is a malleus, you get could get extra psy power trait for THREE casts and FOUR denys off of him, just him, (allowing you to smite, do something else, AND cast to fish for cp each round, and still shut down a half an army of grey knights)! or, I suppose, you could take the "reroll once a round" warlord trait to really lock in a critical denial or cast.

I don’t think I can give him anything because he is a named character sadly. Also I prefer to make the Allarus Shield Captain warlord for 5+++ fnp so he is a durable back line objective grabber and supports the hawkmen. Although you make a very good point hmmmm
