Ive been in DnD games where we paid a DM to run it for us. Is there anything like that for running a warhammer 40k game in something like Tabletop Simulator? I am new to the hobby and would benefit from a good teacher and help me run a game. I want to figure this all out so I can get my friends into it. I know that would be a PITA for someone to do so I wouldnt mind paying them for their time to setup a game, and teach me. I would imagine they could pick the armies and setup the map in TTS, and help me pick a army. Hopefully they could help me decide what a good army consists of.
Then help me learn the rules. Im a more hands on kinda guy. I just got the Dark Dark Imperium set and I think something like that would be perfect. I normally would setup something at my local game store but with the quarantine that is out of the equation.

If no such service exists would someone well experienced be interested? I would prefer to do it in TTS so we can play with the models. We can discus rates, as I have no idea what that would cost. I think we paid the DM around $40 but its negotiable. I would probably pay with paypal. Maybe this could also help with people out of work right now too.

I'm sure you can find a kindly soul like Yarium to teach you the basics for free. Teaching a newbie the ropes doesn't make for a "good game," but it can be an enjoyable and rewarding time investment in its own way.

I'd also recommend that you look for "battle report" videos on youtube. There are some 500 point battles and other videos that are kind of aimed at beginners. They can help you get an idea of how a turn plays out. Larger battles might be less helpful though as there tends to be a lot of rules thrown around that you won't recognize (or need to recognize right away), and the time between turns might make it harder to get an idea of what an overall turn or game looks like.

Welcome to the hobby!

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

If you search Reddit for TTS 40k you'll find a link to the biggest Discord server, there are about a dozen dedicated mentors, there's usually at least one around 24/7. It doesn't cost anything and if you're not getting someone of top tournament quality you shouldn't be paying for it.

Even if you do want to become super good at the game I'd recommend learning from a regular person at first and then once you've gotten in 30 games and read every rule twice you can seek out the professionals to take you to the next level.
