With it harder than usual to set up 40k games today, I'm watching a lot of 40k batreps on youtube. I've seen some great ones and some that had me facepalming. Also it's a great way to learn a new army you're building.

I guess vicarious 40k is better than none, right?

Anyone want to post links to a good 40k batrep video? And if you've actually made and posted one, why not share it here?

I really enjoy Ash from Guerrilla Miniature Games - infectious enthusiasm for gaming and he plays everything.

Mini-Wargaming Studios/Mountain Miniatures are also good. They just changed up their format and streamlined their videos.

Those are the main two I watch.

Here's one I liked a lot. This one went to the end, and was really impossible to see who was going to win until the end. I've seen batreps where one side gets rollhammered by the dice early on and it's clear they're going to lose, this was not one of those.

Grim Resolve deserves a shout-out - he does superb narrative batreps.

I'd also recommend Winters and Moarhammer - the two halves of Deployment Zone.tv:

There's plenty out there to accommodate all tastes - I prefer something to have on in the background while I'm painting. Controversial opinion but I'm struggling with Tabletop Tactics becoming more and more OTT and more annoying with each iteration. I prefer more understated presenters - also the reason why I can't get on with Mini-Wargaming.

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Tabletop Tactics is my favourite by some distance.

The presenters are great fun, there is a nice mix of narrative and competitive games, and the production values are brilliant.

I also pay for their subscription channel.

I like Skari's batreps personally, because he heavily cuts them down until they're like 30-40min instead of the 2:30 that some like mwg tend to be.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Striking scorpion 82, tabletop tactics, moarhammer/winters SEO/deployment zone, hellstorm wargaming are my favourites but I watch others as well.

Tabletop Tactics is my favorite channel for reasons that others have mentioned. Their players are loads of fun with excellent production values and miniatures.

Worth mentioning that they have a clear distinction between Narrative, normal and Competitive (Tactica) battle reports. So you can watch whatever takes your fancy.

Personally, I can find watching competitive games with non-fluffy try-hard lists quite boring - but most of their content is either the (absolutely superb) narrative games or the normal games (which have a great balance between fluff and solid lists)

On moon miranda.

For some reason, despite being an avid gamer and always down to watch games in person, I just can't watch streamed games, be they tabletop or vidya, I find myself either annoyed by whoever is talking/playing or just wanting to go play myself

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

WinterSEO, Striking Scorpion82, and Table Top Tactics are my go to. miniwargaming is usually hit or miss for me.

Definitely Tabletop Tactics as the #1 channel for me, although I do like Striking Scorpion since he does a fantastic job with terrain. There are a few others out there that I like, but usually just based on what factions are playing.

I have played in a few reports for All Miniatures Great and Small, and you can see a BR here with my Ravenwing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om51IyUSIUw&t=01s

Definitely a more casual style of play, but that's generally because I prefer to meet up and play for fun without stressing over the competitiveness side of the game.
