Hi there,

Quick question. Do Mechanicus Knight households use the more 'heraldic' faceplates at all, or do they exclusively go bare-faced roboskull/Mechanicus face?

Thanks!

Questor Mechanicus households arent really detailed all that much, aside from heraldry and their history. We dont really get any info on how the Houses actually operate, how deep they are in the Cult Mechanicum.I think most Mech houses were discovered by mars first so that's where their loyalty lies. Even Mechanicus houses are still feudal in nature. So why not back the robot god when you rule with a giant robot suit?

Ultimately it comes down to your own preference. They wouldn't be using Imperial Aquilas, but the face plate is an ancient, and standard design, so its up to whatever Household traditions and artisans are in control.

I use the Skull face plates, because I think they look cooler, and I double my Knights as Chaos Renegades.

It also seems pretty impractical to have a plate at all, they clearly lower visibility on the eye lenses.

There is no definitive answer. GW tend to paint their models a certain way but that is just their interpretation, not a rigid rule. If you like your Mechanicum knights with the helm-style faces then go for it!

If in doubt, always remember the first rule of modelling:

#1 They are your models, paint them how you like!
