I need small itsy chains to use in place of reins for a conversion of models riding alternate horses (28mm scale). I've heard people say look for jewelers chains etc, but not exactly sure of the sizing or a good place to purchase. Any help would be appreciated. I've found some online, but they rarely have any kind of scale I find usable for this.

Go to the local dollar store, buy costume jewelry. There is no correct size. It is what you want it to be.

For tiny chains look at items to make inexpensive jewelry. A place like a Michel’s or Hobby Lobby would have these items. Look at their online stores.

1.5mm chain is probably the size you want for 28mm scale horse reins.



The top chain in the image is 1.5mm. The bottom one is 3mm (probably far too big). Greenstuffworld will ship to the US, but postage might be prohibitive (not to mention how long it will take in the current circumstances). Try searching Ebay for "1.5mm hobby model chain" and you'll probably find something suitable.

Craft stores with a bead section will generally have several sizes of jewelry style chain. You can buy it by the foot for almost nothing.
