I've tried to come up with as viable a triple wraithknight list as I could, the idea got mentioned in the craftworlds tactics thread a while back and I had a play around with the idea. With table top simulator I might even give it a go!

Well, interesting list.
Your lists often seem to go to the extreme.
I'd consider some psychic powers that bolster your Wraithknights such as fortune.

I've run triple Wraithknight early in 8th edition and quickly realized how deadly 8th edition shooting is. They don't possess enough firepower to justify trying to stay out of range; I often needed their close combat ability. However, armies could drop one per turn with little difficulty. If I tried to keep them out of range, then my other elements would be overwhelmed in quick fashion as it was easy to ignore the Wraithknights.

In short, I could never make three work.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I admit this is a very skewed list, having the triple wraithknights did cause a few issues in terms of points! So I quickly ruled out a battalion because getting enough anti infantry firepower that wasn't just going to melt was tricky, hence why I went for the walkers solution.
I think the points drops have helped the wraithknight a bit, being able to give them cover and salamander reroll traits makes them interesting, not top level competitive but not totally useless.
I did think about using fortune but with three knights I just think it's too easily ignored.
