so with this lock down I've started hosting games and got my brother back into the game...he ain't played since 3rd. I am trying to make a decent list from stuff I have on hand. He says he wants chaos. I do have blight drones, a a maulerfiend, 1 more venom crawler and a flawless host Supreme command det with Smash Lord, 1 disco lord, master of possession, 1 exalted champ, and a 5 man chosen with a bunch of combi plas + Rhino

Its been a few months since I've touched these guys so I may be lacking on the new combos. Any suggestions on some tweaks?

I was theorizing this list will be great at board control as well as playing fairly aggressive with positioning. Plus 23 surplus CP

Red Cosairs 1st Battalion -------

Huron Blackheart
Warsmith- combi-melta <maelstrom bite>

20x Marines- champ-fist/combi melta, 2 melts, 10 bolters, 7 pistols/ chainswords, Mark of slaanesh, icon of excess

2x5 Marines-champ-fist/combi bolter, melts gun

Red Corsairs 2nd Battalion --------'

Lord discordant
Master of Possession

1x5 marines-missile launcher
2x5 marines- champ-combi-bolter/fist, 1 plasma gun

2x Venom Crawlers

Death Guard Battalion
Typhus
Malignant Plague caster < supporating plate

3x20 Pox walkers

1 Plague burst crawler-entropy cannons

Salamanders, blood angels, death watch and raptors. But between everyone just about all factions have representation

60 pox walker and 30 CSM are gonna get shot of the board fairly quickly. Would add the choosen in and the rhino for sure.

To be fair 60 pox walkers takes a while kill. I'd say 3 turns if you can use terrain. I had someone screen a nurgle squad with plague flails and a demon prince while I chewed threw 60 poxes. I was playing tau, I just couldn't stop all his stuff before he charged me (and then I literally killed everything during overwatch).

I think you need to make sure that you get your infantry in the opponents face by turn 2, all at once. Any everything else is supporting the effort with guns.

Where's the sorcerer with warptime? Where's that deathguard support model that lets you reroll your advance rolls? Plague Burst Crawlers are great, get 2 more. Field the other venom crawler, bring the supreme command.

Why make your malignant sorcerers a whimp with a 2+ armor, he's not going to get into combat or shot at unless your lost the game. Bring the demon prince with the 2+ plate... now you got some game, that's scary.

Hmm, maybe. IF you are dead set on using Red Corsairs as a main. Thing is, I feel like rules-wise the Renegade chapters serve more of a sidekick role. They usually got one or two gimmicks going for them, but not nearly as much as the proper Legions.
Red Corsairs for example, I feel their main gimmick is, that they can produce a ton of CPs, but they don't have really interesting stratagems to spend them on. They get a free relic, but they have only 6 or so relics to actually chose from, 4 of which are keyed to one of each chaos power, and none of which is really exceptionally good. Then they got their trait, advance and charge, which is decent, but can be easily replicated by every Slaanesh CSM model with a Daemon keyword and a character from a Slaanesh Chaos Demon detachment nearby, and be it patrol-sized.
Also, with a Renegade Warlord, you have to use the general Tacucal Objectives, which are kind of all over the place and a bit harder to build towards, than with the Legion Tacical Objectives.

Red Corsairs are great sidekicks for a Legion, that wants to spam stratagems, like Alpha Legion or Wordbearers, if you don't want to field a whole bunch of cultists. But, actually Death Guard isn't too rich on their stratagem diversity, either. My hunch for deploying Red Corsairs would be two characters and 3 units of marines in their color, and a long read through all the stratagems "real" CSM have to offer to decide what Legion should be your main.
