Hello All,
I'm sure what I am about to describe is a familiar feeling to pretty much all of you who may read this budding blog... Sitting around with too much time on ones hands, staring a the daunting mountain of unpainted plastic, resin and metal (yes, metal! They used to make miniatures out of in in the halcyon days of Way Back When!) Otherwise known as the Pile of Shame.
Not so long ago, towards the start of Quarantine, I decided that i did not, in fact, like my Pile of Shame and resolved to do something about it. That "Something" is now a 1750pt Ynnarii army. So that's neat.
However
It is a universal truth of Wargaming: There Is Always More.
I attempted to turn to my friends for aid in dealing with this most regrettable of situations, to lament the folly of being led astray by the promises of new codecies and drawn in by the shiny cellophane and patented New Miniature Smell, but alas they could offer no solace in these most trying of times.
For you see, they were in the same position...
And thus, driven by a burning desire to abolish the Piles of Shame, to take back what was ours and clear out the shelves and cupboards of projects that we swore we would start "eventually", a plan was hatched. A plan so massive that the very Warp itself quakes when it was mentioned. A plan so insane that the Holy Inquisition, should they ever find out about it, would label us heretics of the highest order and begin planning our execution forthwith.
A plan... to actually finish an army.
But we could not do it alone. Splitting time between work, hobby and family/friends/relationships/ect is hard enough at the best of times, and with two amongst us being Key Workers and having unstable schedules as of writing this we knew that just "deciding to get on with it" would not be the solution. No, what we needed was some inspiration. A plan, to ensure we actually went through with this crazy idea. A plan that had totally never been done before, honest guys!

Oh. Right. Well then...
(Don't worry, the link is mine)
So we've decided to instigate a Tale of X Gamers style challenge amongst our group:
The Rules:
Minimum one unit must be painted during a month, unless otherwise specified, for the army designated at the beginning of the Challenge. These units must be painted to a minimum Tabletop Standard, and if possible, based.
Each Gamer will post minimum one update per month, showing the picture of their finished unit, and declaring their intentions for the next month. This post MUST include pictures, or the minimum will be considered unfulfilled.
WIP posts and etc are allowed and encouraged, however.
When possible, at least one game will be played during the month, and battle reports will be created and posted in this blog by myself or by one of the other two.
During some months, a Side Quest may be issued, for example "Paint a Warcry Warband" or "Paint a Blood Bowl Team". Unless otherwise stated, this will be replacing the month's minimum one unit, not adding to it. Of course, time permitting, some of us may do both!
The End Goal of the project is to have a fully functioning army of the chosen faction, although we have yet to specify exactly what that entails. Personally, I'm aiming for about 2000 points.
And finally: I will be keeping a running tally of points throughout the challenge. Points can be earned by painting units, winning games and some other things I've not finalised yet. Points mean prizes, although what those will be is still uncertain...
So, now that's out of the way, who exactly are these Three Gamers?
Well first up, pretty obviously, there's me. Sanguinius Himself, also known as Bassiecore online and primogenitor of the Blood Angels.
Because that's the army I'm painting. Convenient that.
Prior to this challenge, i took it upon myself to paint up a bunch of Blood Angel Primaris marines from the First Strike boxed set, and decided that, while i do like the Primaris miniatures, it's not worth buying a whole new army when i have plenty of Heresy-era marines sitting around.
I'm sure there's some Sign in the fact that i've now participated in two of these and done a Heresy Era force for both...
Next up we have the one I'm going to call Zantilin for now, as i'm not sure what his username on here will be (he's still waiting on that confirmation email...), playing Adeptus Custodes.
I hear he likes gold. And not painting very many miniatures...
Custodes are cool, extremely shiny and reputedly rock solid on the tabletop. One to watch out for, I'm sure.
Da Boss
This Man Has A Flag
Grunt
Grunt
Grunt.
Apparantly group pictures are too much for the Emperor's Finest. Probably a good thing as that much gold may damage the camera and/or blind the camera-servitor if he is not careful when using the flash...
And finally, we have the Lord of Cheese himself. Hailing from a distant land and intent on making the rest of us suffer (no, really), It's Gamer Number Three, he-who-did-not-tell-me-his-username.
Playing Grey Knights. Wonderful.
Silver, not gold, but just as wonderfully cheesy as the Custard Boys. This man enjoys Grey Knight Paladins, SMITEing things, and the tears of his enemies. And friends, apparently.
Captain Cheesedarius
This Cheese Has A Flag
The Cheese Comes In Threes
No, You Don't Get To Kill My Cheese.
So there you have it folks,
The beginning of a Tale.
I'll leave the others to post their plans in more detail as and when they can, and leave y'all now to go dig out the first of many, many MK4 tactical squads!
Until next time.
Bassiecore Out.
