Boom! Leman Russ Commander

I'd love to see some bonus rules for Valkyries etc along the lines of Tank Aces....

And it would make sense, seeing as the word ACE first applied to flyers!

Just annoyed that Tanks and Artillery got some cool abilities but Valks got nothing.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

This was a thing last edition. It probably wouldn't break anything to implement it the same way tank aces have been implemented. In fact, you could probably just expand the list to include flyer options as well.

Personally, I feel like Ace rules are one of those sources of rules bloat that I wouldn't mind doing away with. In my personal and highly subjective opinion, they don't add a lot to the narrative or character of an army, but they do add another layer of rules to remember and create a new variable that complicates game balance.

But if you like them in your games, that's great. They wouldn't create any issues that tank aces/kustom jobs haven't already introduced so long as the specific rules are reasonable.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Flyer Aces
If the selected VEHICLE model has the Flyer Battlefield role, you can select from the following Tank Ace abilities:
Covert Deployment
This model benefits from cover against all Shooting attacks made by models that are not within 12" of this model.
Defensive Flyer
Re-roll failed hit rolls in the Charge phase for this model. In addition, subtract 1 from hit rolls made against this model in the Fight phase.
Inspiring Presence
Gain 1CP each time you use the Insane Bravery Stratagem. In addition, double the number of wounds this model has remaining for the purposes of determining what row to use on that damage table.

HQ
Ork Flyin' Kommando
This unit includes either Da Lightnin', Da Red Baron, Da Skyhunta or Wukwas Mekace. You cannot include more than one of any of these models in your army.

Flyin Kommando: Instead of being set up on the battlefield during deployment, this model must begin the battle flying a plane. When mustering your army, select one BLOOD AXES VEHICLE model from your army for this model to fly that has one of the following keywords: DAKKAJET, BURNA-BOMMER, BLITZA-BOMMER, WAZBOM BLASTAJET. The VEHICLE gains a special rule based on which Flyin' Kommando has taken control of the VEHICLE.

Da Lightnin' does something mobility related, Da Red Baron makes the plane shootier, Da Skyhunta is good at bombing runs and shooting ground targets, Wukwas Mekace can repair his ride.
