Do you think that there is any possibility of this line of xenos emerging as a strong enough enemy to get a line of models? Or are they just too obscure for that?

I did have the idea for a story where a hive fleet goes on a Great Crusade of its own to absorb the various Tyranid offshoots into the hive mind. Maybe a remnant of the megarachnids could be part of this.

Impossible, they are wayyy too close to the tyranids, there is no room for them

Yeah, seems unlikely. Design space is pretty much already taken, and a similar unit or two could easily be done in another list.

Fluffwise, it makes little sense. If that world is remembered at all, it probably got blown the heck up in 10,000 years. Or cost a lot of lives to purge the stupid way- those bugs were just too nasty. Which is of course another reason to not do them- they would be grossly OP in game terms.

The list of potential future armies, even just potential xenos armies, is pretty long. I don't see any reason to pick this one.

Too obscure, may possibly draw too close a parallel to Starship troopers Arachnids (& Dagobah Knobby spiders).

It never ends well

Don't think Megarachnids will be produced, but would love to see some Megarachnids official or not. Great piece of lore. Tyranids actually were never my thing, but I'm really into Starship trooper arachnids and xenomorphs alike.

I hardly think design space is a concern in modern 40k given how much the current races step on one another's toes...

As for fluff, there is a perfectly valid reason to bring them (and others) in; which GW for some odd reason have yet to capitalise on. The opening of the Great Rift. You mean to tell me, across all of the galaxy there are no medium-sized fiefdoms and mini empires that are otherwise constantly kept in check by the Imperium (*cough* Bargeshi *cough*) that have not took advantage of the massive fustercluck of it opening and the Imperium's (and others) attentions being diverted elsewhere?

At best you'd get a Kill Team model like the Kroot Shaper or Squatacles.
