I am getting close to collecting enough bits and pieces to cobble together a few of my own grot tanks. But as I'm thinking about it I'm not really sure what loadout would be best for them. They're relatively fast so I could arm them all with flamers, or gotzookas and zip my towards the enemy. They're grots, so I should take advantage of their 4+ shooting and give them rockets? Or maybe keep them dirt cheap and give everybody big shootas and pepper the enemy to death. So many choices.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

They are not fast at all.

Vehicles typically move 10-12", they move 2D6 which is on average 7-8"

They also have abysmal leadership so they dont want to get close, since theyre squishy enough for high RoF short range guns to plink them off. You kinda have to keep a warboss or a Follow Me Ladz! big mek around them, otherwise you WILL lose a few to leadership.

KMBs are best via Grotmobz. 321pts for a squad of 8 (9KMBs because the Kommanda gets 2). The only alternative would be Rokkits but that adds 3pts a model for an inferior gun, just one that doesnt Gets Hot.
Grottanks are squishy enough where the GetsHot isnt an issue anyway, and remember its a per model thing so you can easily have the damage spread out from it as the BEARER suffers the mortal wound, not the unit. Odds are a single grottank is not going to live long enough to self-nuke to death anyway, and that 1 wound it lost before getting shot at wont matter either most of the time.

Theyre still not a very amazing choice. Technically Grot Mega Tanks are superior in every way other than raw, combined HP. A full squad of Grot Tanks is 321 (w/ kmbs) and thats 32 T5 wounds split into 8 4wound chunks. Grot Mega Tanks are half that price, 2 less KMBs, 9 wounds, T6, and a chance to fire more accurately on top of having 0 leadership problems. Two Grot Mega Tanks are half the wounds, but 5 more KMB shots and in 2 separate units for roughly the same cost.
