after a little clarity here after watching a battle report on YouTube and subsequently in the comments it was consensus that it was a correct use of rules...

Which version of the below is accurate for over watch? do you resolve all over-watch from all declared charges and only then move the units in or is version A (top one) to block over-watch possible in the same turn?

It's A. You resolve the full charge sequence for a unit (Declare Targets > Take Overwatch > Make Roll > Move if possible), and then move on to the next unit. If you make a successful charge with the Orks, the Marines cannot overwatch the Kans as they are within 1" of an enemy unit.

The check isn't made at the start of the phase, it's made when an enemy declares a charge. Using a transport or other tanky unit to soak up overwatch to allow another unit to charge without taking overwatch is a legitimate strategy and always has been in 8th.

awesome when i first played a game a while back i was overwatched into 3 units despite successful charges and surviving each, i thought it was complete cheese at the time, but you live and learn!

Just keep in mind that T'au are total cheese. If you charge a unit that can't fire overwatch for whatever reason, but others nearby can use FTGG, the other units can still fire. The only way to bypass FTGG is for the charging unit itself to be immune from overwatch (e.g. BA Smash Captain with The Angels Wing).

Both A and B are wrong. You resolve overwatch BEFORE rolling for charge distance.

The sequence is:
1. Select unit to charge with
2. Declare the target(s) of the charge.
3. Resolve overwatch by target(s) of the charge
4. Roll for charge distance
5. Determine if charge succeeds/fails. (Sequence ends here if charge fails)
6. (If charge success) move one model from charging unit up to the distance rolled in the charge roll, ensuring it ends the move within 1” of any of the units the charge was declared against.
7. Move the rest of the models in the charging unit to such that unit coherency is maintained.
End of sequence.

Repeat the whole sequence for each unit in your army you want to charge with.

Yes, you're right. My bad (I just woke up and did not notice the ordering in the image).

You resolve overwatch BEFORE making a roll to charge, as I correctly stated in my reply post.

Yup, wasn’t disputing your post, just thought it best to point out the error in the images so the OP isn’t confused.
