I think a necron tomb spyder should get the same save as wraiths for the same justification, it phases thru machinery to fix problems deep in them.

It would also make them more viable on the field.

While it would definitely give them a boost to their survivability, the fundamental problem of the tomb spyder is that it literally has no real role in a Necron army as it is currently. As a repair unit, it's not worth it to repair Doomsday Arks (which is pretty much the only vehicle it can keep up with), and Scarabs are best used as screens and harassment units to get into the enemy's backfield. Not only will the Spyder not be in range of them to use it's ability most of the time, but being only able to regen one base per unit means you're pretty much never getting back your investment in points, especially since most scarab units will die before you can bring any back. Even the Gloom Prism it can be taken with, at 50 points per guy and only 6" movement, means it's a sizable investment just to deny only one psychic power a spyder. Furthermore, only having 4 wounds (even with a 3+ invuln, they would get mowed down by rate of fire) and almost no offensive contribution to the army makes it so they're literally dead weight in a Necron army. They need to be redesigned from the ground up, ideally with character protection, to function in a Necron army. They should really have faster base movement and give some buff to Canoptek units, so they have an actual focus rather than their bizarre support role that effectively does everything badly.

TS can also use gloom prisms to deny the witch. In fact TS should get them free.

BTW, if we redesign the tomb spyder I think a cryptek should be able to stand on top of one and ride it.

I believe I already mentioned that in my post regarding the gloom prisms? But yeah, they should have gloom prisms baseline. I don't see why Crypteks should have them as mounts though, given that they already have mobility with the canoptek cloak and they don't need to be more expensive than they already are.

Ideally, Spyders gain the Character keyword and the same wraithform rule as Wraiths do. Give them a 10" base movement instead so they can actually keep up with them, and allow them to give off an aura ability to give units within 6" that have the CANOPTEK keyword the ability to reroll charges and advance rolls. Make it so that the Fabricator Claw Array also works on Canoptek units and allow the Scarab Hive rule to bring it above the max unit size. Now Canoptek units can actually have a support unit that can keep up with them while benefitting from buffs as well.

What if a tomb spyder could give scarabs next to it a 5++ save in addition to having a wraith save? Makes it a little easier to get them into close combat.
