Hi guys,

I'm finally getting done something I have been working on for about a decade; a Land Raider Ares. Problem is - I'm not really that familiar with the Dark Angels or their iconography. I know there are difference sub-groups of DA: Ravenwing, Deathwing, etc but I don't know which is what (well, I know Deathwing is all terminators).

What would be the correct logos/icons to use on a DA Land Raider Ares? I assume the winged sword is safe, and from Lexicanum I think 9th company, but otherwise...

Thanks!

The Land Raider would come from the armory, so it would be painted the standard Dark Angels green. Only the 1st Company has Land Raiders as an organic element, while the other companies are all assigned heavy armor on an as-needed basis. Oftentimes a tank will carry the number or iconography of the company it is assigned to, but there is no set way of doing this in the game lore. If the tank is part of a squadron it will usually have squadron number (1st tank, 2nd tank, or 3rd tank).

So paint the Land Raider green. Decorate it with the chapter's winged sword icon, and maybe give it company and/or squadron markings. Feel free to do whatever looks cool, as there's no set rhyme or reason to Space Marine tank markings.

Madness is however an affliction which in war carries with it the advantage of surprise - Winston Churchill

That said, doing it up in Deathwing bone looks the nutz. Imo both green or bone, or even combined, will be appropriate.

On moon miranda.

The only Ares' I've seen in person or in pictures have just been basic Land Raiders with FW Dark Angels doors or DW/RAW extra sprue bits and painted in standard DA green, seems like that should work, I don't think they're treated any differently from any other chapter vehicle IIRC.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Thanks for the tips! It definitely, uh, won't be green, but will have the winged sword and 1st company markings.

I have extra armor kits for it, as well.
