Assenbled some liche guard with swords an shields because the shields looked too cool not to use.
I don't see lycheguard used much in video batreps, so how do people here use them?
I'm waiting for a mob of shooters to fire on them then use the strat that lets me reflect shots back at them.

Alas they aren't that good though at least bit better with CA19 points. If you face mostly D1 weapons they can be okayish.
I like veil+charge ahead as distraction carnifex at which they have had some decent success against gunlines tagging enemy shooty units. Unfortunately that requires a) carelessness from opponent on screening b) often unit of immortals would have done essentially same job as it was less about killing and more tagging into melee...
They have been rather lackluster for me in killing struggling to clear even basic marines and sanquinary priest.
Best part on them is durability IF you don't face tons of d2 high ROF weapons.

I've run them with some success, but it's a gimmicky list. Run them as Nihilakh and plonk them on an objective in the middle of the board (use Deceiver for this). Use the Reclaim the Lost Empire strat to give them a 3++. If anyone focuses them down, pop the Shieldguard specific strat to give them a 2++ and bounce MWs back on 6s.
It's very CP hungry, but nothing short of MW spam will remove that unit for a turn or two.

Veil of Darkness, Zandrehk, Obyron combo can get them a turn 1 3 inch charge. Otherwise, A small squad of 5 shield guard can bodyguard your characters from snipers since they have bodyguard rules.
They're very good at moving onto a point and holding it out of LOS from heavy shooting, since it takes concerted effort to shift them. A unit of 10 with sword and board have held a midfield objective for me from intercessors and a redemptor dread all game, since the objective was out of LOS, and to their credit they did the job. Scythe guard are too squishy imo. Wish they could mix and match.

I’m impressed that you found 3 different ways to spell them in a single post (including the title)

Now that was useful post. What a stunning insight on how to use the unit. Awesome tactical advise

Scytheguard don't seem worth it to me, they're too slow and squishy. You basically have to veil and gamble on a charge.
Shieldguard are good at not dying and they'll clear chaff, but don't expect them to kill much else. They're good board control, that's about it.
Zandrekh and Oberon are too expensive for what is essentially a slight better, but more convoluted Veil of Darkness, especially to get such a mediocre combat unit up the board.
10 shieldguard, Deceiver to get them onto a midfield objective (preferably in cover) and then use strats to make them ludicrously difficult to shift. Then you just gotta hope your opponent takes the bait. A 5 man team to keep characters alive is also decent, but expensive as bodyguards go.
