A year or two ago back for a Halloween side painting, decided to paint up a Banshee in a colour theme of something known to a lot around the world of an Onryō spirit mostly known in film series The Grudge.

So when I painted this model since its flesh is also a shade of white along with the clothing, decided to make both have a different shade of very light Grey / White so to show difference to the model. The Corset was done in Rhinox Hide and given wash before reapplying same paint again but leaving some parts darker and finishing it off by painting the laces at the front of the corset in red string for those who may not know, it is seen in Japan folklore (believe just in Japan but could be wrong so please do correct me if I am) that red string binds spirits into a host (like Hide and Seek Alone). The Base was gone over in Rhinox Hide (Including Base rim) and then the top was dry brushed over in Mournfang brown to show parts of the dirt ground was becoming afflicted and the rock was done in dark grey, given wash then giving a mechanicus standard grey.



This was a year or two ago when this model was painted, so I may get another Banshee and try repainting this style and using this one as a reference to see where can adapt better shades and such.

It's a cool concept for a banshee. The only thing about red string that I've heard from Japanese folklore is the idea that people who are destined to be together are connected by red string at the little finger. I hadn't heard about the idea of red string binding spirits to hosts, it could work well for 40K daemonhosts too. As to the painting, maybe it's the photograph but there doesn't seem to be much difference between the colour of the skin and the clothes.
