Hello everyone,

For a long time I've enjoyed reading the 40k books and after a couple decades of putting off the itch to start an army, here I am!

The last few weeks I've been assembling the Start Collecting Orks set. The boyz are assembled and primered, and just yesterday I finished the Deff Dread arms. I haven't attached the arms and I'm thinking they will be easier to paint if I attach them later? Later today I'll be digging through the forums for opinions on that. I have really enjoyed working with the models so far but I'm nervous about painting. Gots ta get dat paint on if'n I'z gonna get krumpin'!

This morning I saw that the 9th edition rules were announced. I've had the 8th edition core rulebook for just a couple weeks so my timing is clearly excellent. This has me super nervous because I just don't know what happens when new editions come out. If nothing else I guess this happens to everybody at some point and I'm just ripping that band-aid off early!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Thank you very much!

Since yesterday I've had some time to do some reading and watching and I'm feeling much better about the change in edition. I'm hoping to run lots (lots) of da boyz and it sounds like maybe some changes to cover will help.

Yesterday I also found some time to check out how my paints look. I ordered what I could when I could and ended up with a nice Army Painter set. I primered some cardboard (probably bad idea) with some black and white and put down some paints to see how they looked. Then I tried a face! I'm pretty excited.
