I'm looking at starting a second army.

now here is the thing. I love the Lore especially the newer stuff.

and first and fore most I love assault based Alpha strike/ Beta strike / in your face speedy hard hitting stuff.

and I wish to play marines, and am considering between 3 loyal chapters, and 2 traitors. (I am not a loyalist from a lore point of view as heaps of stuff speaks to me.)
you can probably guess who i am looking at but here they are.

White Scars
Space Wolves
Blood Angels
World Eaters
Night Lords

now here is my dilemma.

I love being the underdog.
I am a Motorcyclist IRL.
I have a huge Viking themed half sleeve shoulder tattoo.
When asked if i'd rather be a Werewolf or a vamp by other nerds, I pick Vamp more often than not. (the only time I picked wolf was after re-watching the underworld series, but that did not last long).
I am a Powerlifter IRL and respect the rage incarnate, Power from Physking oneself up, and single point of focus.
However my love of books, Lore and ADB's Night Lords trilogy, has got me confused.

I'm going round in circles, all of these army's have what I'm looking for. how do I choose?

GW did preview new bikes (primari bikes?) Which would make for interesting space marine builds.

World eaters are certainly the biggest underdog in your shortlist due to shooting lethality vs melee.. This may well change with the new edition but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

If it was me, Id go space wolfs because as far as power armour goes their wolfy wolfiness at least makes them stand out in my eyes and also.. there is a dude that throws his hammer like thor.

From a filthy xenos perspective.. You just gotta answer the one question: Do you want your power armour to be red, grey white or black..

Hard call, and hard to give advice on, as it’s a very personal one.

You say it’s your secondary army, how does your primary play? It can be nice to have the second one play different.

How do you feel about painting? White can be rough. Might be worth painting a marine in each scheme to see how they feel to you.

While scars have the perk of being a sub faction of the main marine book, and thus should get a decent amount of support.

Consider rolling your own chapter? With the right unit selection, you could make something that could fit all those chapters.

Yep, it pretty much boils down to this. So what colors do you like to paint?

After that? I guess I'd look through the model ranges & pick the one that has the most kits I like.

Hard to say with what little we know about the new edition, I'd wait to see how all the new rules pan out before making a decision. But if you like underdogs nobody does that better than the ragtag warbands of the Eighth Legion. And if you like turn two alpha strikes, it's currently what they're all about.

Course I'm a bit biased.

My current army admech is in limbo until the flappy boi's and the fire breathing equines are tested.

And I love the Priests after they get their first kill and become unmovable face wrecking killers of other elites.

I am drawn to the Eighth. perennial underdog. and Talos's middle finger to Abaddon & Huron.

I guess If i were to add one more Criteria it would be I like to be unique, and the Scars have had a massive resurgence post supplement. so I guess I can strike them out. World Eaters probably do not have enough options as I like to run mono faction army's, so i guess they're out. that leaves the sons of Fenris, the Blood of Baal, and the Midnight clad.
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!....

I think night lords are the most "uncommon". I certainly havent seen a nightlords army out int he wild.

But again its all chaos to me.

I'd pick the Night Lords. Not too many NL armies out there, the ADB lore is great, and they have a really nice colour scheme (as long as you dont paint them to look like Ultramarines like the GW studio).

You like in your face melee and tribal markings / tatoos...do you have a moment to talk about the Carcharadons?
