It looks like Amazon UK has the whole assortment of styrene rod diameters from Evergreen. Cut thin slices of that with a sharp blade and position them with tweezers. You may also be able to find strips or pre-spaced rivets or an embossing tool.

Lots of options for rivets....
With a sharp knife, cut them off plastic kits. Spare vehicle panels are a good source for these, and if you want tiny ones you can get them off bolters.
Buy some 0.5 mm styrene rod, cut thin slices to make rivets. You can buy styrene rods of all sizes on pretty much any hobby website, as well as amazon.
Buy some 0.5 mm ballbearings/ glass beads. Drill a tiny crater where you want your rivet to be and glue a ballbearing in. Amazon should be a good place.
Greens tuff moulds. Green stuff world I think has some silicon moulds you can buy which will allow you to make your own rivets.
All good options, I tend to mostly raid my plastic bits and cut up styrene rod for mine.

Gimme a sec.
I haven't tried them yet, was waiting for wife to finish her project first but for non flat head rivets I think they will work.

I didnt really want to go the route of slicing plastic rod that small because its obv really super fiddly and id make a mess of it.
I want some .5mm ready made in some way really. I might have to get the rod and a scalpel by looks of it though. :( Automatically Appended Next Post: shmvo wrote:Lots of options for rivets....

Do you know anywhere in the uk that sells glass or steel ball bearings that are .5mm? I cant find any as small as that.
Is that mould for .5mm sized ones?
Thats a good idea to cut them off something else though, sounds verrrry fiddly mind. Sounds like its either that or try and butcher some rod. Cheers bud. Automatically Appended Next Post: Pariah Press wrote:I use a tiny hole-punch from a craft store and polystyrene sheets ("plasticard").

Gem Art beads? I dunno what they'll be locally, but having just tried them they are way too big, they measure 2.6mm, diameter and compared to other WH40K rivets are super large. They'll probably only work on super heavies.
I will be putting them on a scratch built turret, so hopefully won't look too outsized.

I'm currently trying to add some rivets on a kitbashing project (My first time) and use white glue (or wood glue) and a small steel rod (like a trotz pick). Basically you just apply small dots and then repeat when they are dry until they are high enough. The result looks something like this:
I put them a bit close together, but for now I'm satisfied. And I think with a bit of practice it is a nice and easy option

thanks, I found the idea somewhere in the web. Don't remember where.
It's also pretty cheap and with a bit of experience (that I still have to gather) you can vary the rivvet size pretty easy. Especially great when you want to do something orky where varying rivets add to the flair.

I roll up small balls of green stuff anytime I have extra.
Once cured they can be cut in half and used as rivets. Plus you can make thousands for next to nothing.

The one I use for Ork vehicles looks to be about 1.5mm, and is the kind of hole punch you use for paper. I found some hole punches used for leatherworking that come as small as 0.5mm, but I haven't tried that style for making plastic rivets.

I've tried a few methods. Cutting rivets from a rod of styrene is easy. Just remember to put your fingertip over the blade while pressing down on the rod; the rivets tend to go flying when cut. The main issue is that it takes care and patience to cut disks of consistent thickness, and to do nearly parallel cuts.
These days I use a Fiskars hole punch from a craft store to cut disks out of styrene sheet. With this method, you tend to get a bit of "flashing" around one edge of the disk, like the brim of a hat. Gluing the river flash-side down works well enough. You're also limited by the size of your hole punch. The smallest punch I found was 1mm I think? It looks fine on ork vehicles but would be rather cartoony on Imperial stuff.
This modeler on YouTube (at 8 min 30 sec in the video) shows an interesting way of making very fine rivets, using the blunt end of a small drill bit to punch discs out of foil. I haven't tried this one, but it looks very good.
