If you keep the jump chappy on the board he can do aura buffs (like canticles of hate) to help deepstrikers assault. With two turns worth of movement thats 24+
2d6+6 inches that you need a single model to touch for +2 to charge.
It's been a key part of my lists in the past.
To the point at hand, I run mine with a combi-melta as salamander and give him the beatstick relic - He can reliably ace high value targets and can threaten multiple characters with the charge and melta combination.
