So, looking to build jump chaplain and was wondering what people's experience with weapon selection was. I intend to use it as a close combat wrecking ball, so was leaning towards either the bog standard bolt pistol or a plasma pistol. However, conversations with people I respect at FLGS have me thinking that maybe a combi-plasma might add a bit more utility to the build overall.

Thoughts/experiences?

Why a jumpy chaplain ? When he deepstrikes he cant pray. With combi plasma he cannot reroll 1s when overcharging.

Playing raven guard successor, so start him on the table and use various shenanigans to deliver to where he is needed, then jump pack for quick re-deployment / get away

My old Jump Chaplain has a Crozius and a Powerfist. It's a bit odd, but it looks damn cool and rarely disappoints. It delivers the aura where you need it abd has an innense threat range. Love him.

If you keep the jump chappy on the board he can do aura buffs (like canticles of hate) to help deepstrikers assault. With two turns worth of movement thats 24+2d6+6 inches that you need a single model to touch for +2 to charge.
It's been a key part of my lists in the past.

To the point at hand, I run mine with a combi-melta as salamander and give him the beatstick relic - He can reliably ace high value targets and can threaten multiple characters with the charge and melta combination.
