Just been reading through WotS regarding the Custodes:

1: Does Valoris have a preset Shield Host? Couldn't see it anywhere but could do with a confirmation that he doesn't have a default one, similar to Typhus in the same book.

2: Even if the rest of the Detachment is given a Shield Host, I can't from my understanding of the rules on p.35, give any other character a Relic or Trait (through the Ten Thousand Heroes strat) from that Shield Host if you have Valoris as your Warlord?

1) Psychic Awakening: War of the Spider, Page 35, Paragraph 1, final sentence deals with Trajaan. In short, he doesn't get a <SHIELD HOST> keyword.

2) You can. The stratagems on page 38 are unlocked by any ADEPTUS CUSTODES detachment and usable regardless of <SHIELD HOST>, only the <SHIELD HOST> specific stratagems are locked to their <SHIELD HOST> However as far as I can see there isn't a PA stratagem for an extra relic (that is in the codex), only for the extra Warlord Trait. The "Relics of Terra" listed in PA:WotS are can only be given to CHARACTERS in their respective Shield Hosts, but you can use the codex stratagem to buy them as with any other relic.
