I did not had a jumpack captain, although is a really popular choice on the tabletop, and I really liked the jump marine asthetic. Normal jumpacks though, might be a bit too normal for a captain, so I had the idea to convert an inceptor into a jumpack captain, with a big thunderhammer and a dynamic pose.
Single inceptors in Ebay go almost at the same price as full easy to build squads, so I just got 3 of them, and while experimenting with the bits I though: Space marines do not have enough units, lets do a assault inceptor squad!
This is more a fun conversion entertainment than a tabletop oriented group of minis, but once finished I could use the main guy as intended (jumpack captain), and the other 2 as bodyguards (Chaptions, ultramarines guard), or I could just get some more done and use them as a vanguard squad. Maybe I am lucky and 9th edition releases have something similar to this concept, who knows?
General tips about this conversion are
- Lots of dangling bits to give a bit of movement to the pose, but not too many so it would be crowded.
- Angle the jumpack back about 20 degrees compared to the normal building position, so there is more space for the head to be seen, thus being able to look up. This allows the pose to be much more aggressive, and the shape is a bit more aerodinamic looking instead of a hard L.
Captain guy
This was the original idea a jumpack captain, and the plan was to just have this guy and use the other 2 as they come in the box, joining my 3 supressors. The moment I saw that big deathwatch hammer and the pose of these legs the idea of the mini was established.
I did want to somehow have a shield too, but is a compromise I am happy to do for the cool looks.

The damaged one
The idea behind this one came because I only had 2 terminator shields, and one of them was severly cut and damaged. So, I decided to use that to make the mini stand out from the others, giving it a damaged left side due to a big explosion, and also having a more calm pose.
The most difficult part was to get a full helmet, and a face, cut them in the shape I wanted to show that damage, and make them fit. I spent almost an hour doing small cuts to get a good fit.

The charning one
I must
sa this the one I like the least. I believe I screwed the final angle on the base just a mit once I reinforced it with a pin. There is something about the pose of the legs, or the arm, or something, that I think could be better.
I think I could do a bit more with the details. I do not like how the leaves crown sits on the top, and the front of the body looks a bit vanilla compared to the other 2.

I have some more ideas for future guys in the same vibe. I do like how powerful the thunderhammer looks, but I am also a fan of lighting claws.
I have not seen too many conversions like these ones, has anyone had any good work that other people have done like this?
Any thoughs on how they look? How can improve these, or any more I do in the future?
